"Happy tears." What a great way to summarize last week's session!

This man was born with a birth defect that caused his leg to never develop fully, which comes with a myriad of aches and pains. He wears a prosthetic leg and uses a cane to walk. About four years ago, he was told by his doctor that it was time for surgery again if he wanted to continue being mobile, but that even with surgery, he was looking at probably being wheelchair bound in the next couple of years. As an avid skier and outdoorsy adventurer, this was unacceptable.

In 20 minutes, we were able to get his lower back pain from an 8/10 with gabapentin to a 2/10 and he was able to get off gabapentin completely and had no lower back pain within the next month as we continued treatment.

Over the years, we've addressed lots of aches and pains. He jokes that his treatment is like a game of Wack-A-Mole for me. 🤣

It's been a long time since I had to spend more than 3 sessions on any one painful area without resolution, but the past few months he's had some pretty severe pain and lack of range of motion with his arm.

This was treatment #6 on this arm and I knew I had to do something very different. I decided to take a mental step back and come to the table with fresh eyes. What I saw is that his whole torso was twisting to try and support lifting his arm.

So, we got to work on his ribcage. This caused cramping/spasms in his lower back, sol worked on that. This caused nerve pain down his leg, so worked on that. This caused discomfort in his ankle, so l worked on that. We continued like this for 30 minutes, until finally the pain in his arm was the only issue that remained. I went to work on his shoulder...

CLUNK

We both jumped and laughed. His body made a huge adjustment! knew something important had changed and let him know he could raise his arm now. He did so easily with no pain or restriction for the first time since July.

Happy tears, indeed.

This is a big change and I'm terrified. And so excited!!

Effective immediately Reclaimed Therapeutic Bodywork will no longer be offering massage for new clients. 🤯

I have spent the last 3 years learning a technique called Rapid NeuroFascial Reset. It's a movement based manual therapy done over clothing and it provides INCREDIBLE results. Just as the modality's name suggests, these solutions are quick and because I am able to address the nervous system, they are lasting.

This technique helps me help you so much better. I've found over the past year that when new clients come in for a massage, we just end up doing Rapid anyway. So... That's all we're going to do now!
