“Every fear is a fear of death.”
When I first read this, it stopped me in my tracks. What do ya think? Does this ring true for you?
For me, I’m terrified of heights. It’s bad—I recently got queasy just looking at a picture of the stairs at Machu Picchu. (Yes, a picture!) Sure, some of that is vertigo, but some of it is a deeper fear of death. If I fall from that height, I know I won’t survive. That fear makes sense in a survival context.
But what about less obvious fears? A fear of success, failure, rejection—could these, too, be linked to a fear of death? Maybe not physical death, but the death of an identity, a relationship, or a way of being. If we keep peeling back the layers of the onion, we might find that same core fear at the center.
What do you fear? How do you think it connects to a fear of death? ✨💜💀
