Real Patients, Real Feedback!

Being a therapist has been one of the most fulfilling roles in my life. I am beyond grateful for my patients who allow me to be part of their most vulnerable times of their life.

Therapy isn't easy, but with the right clinician and support, it truly is life changing.

As we step into a new year, it’s easy to set BIG goals and feel pressured to achieve them all at once. But real growth often happens in the small, intentional steps we take every day.

When setting goals for your mental health this year, consider focusing on realistic, meaningful intentions that fit your individualistic needs:

☑️Understanding emotional spending and emotional eating patterns. (e.g. You don't need to shop at Amazon/Target every season)
☑️Practicing daily coping skills, even in small doses. (e.g. walking, daily sun exposure, drinking more water)
☑️Staying connected with your support system. (e.g. Reach out to friends, colleagues, family)
☑️Allowing yourself to be vulnerable & ask for help when needed. (e.g. Talk to your therapist or medical provider)

These aren’t quick fixes—they’re ongoing practices. Progress isn’t linear, and every step forward, no matter how small, is worth celebrating.

At Mental Health with Jojo, we understand the these aren’t quick fixes—they’re ongoing practices. Progress isn’t linear, and every step forward, no matter how small, is worth celebrating.

The holiday season can bring joy, but for many, it also stirs up feelings of stress, loneliness, or past trauma. Mental Health with Jojo is here to help you handle these challenges with care and compassion.

Common Causes of Holiday Trauma

☑️Loss of Loved Ones: Holidays can bring up grief from missing those we’ve lost.

☑️Family Tensions: Gathering with family can reopen old wounds or bring up conflicts.

☑️Financial Pressures: The cost of gifts and gatherings can cause anxiety.

☑️Isolation: Many feel alone during this time, especially without nearby family.

How to Take Care of Yourself

🕗Set Boundaries: It’s okay to limit time with family or certain conversations.

🫀Acknowledge Your Emotions: Allow yourself to feel sadness or grief without judgment.

💞Practice Self-Care: Prioritize calming activities, like taking a walk or journaling.

🧠Reach Out for Help: Talking to a professional can make a big difference.

You Are Not Alone (Su***de Prevention Month)

Su***de Prevention Month May Be Ending, But Support Is Always Available
As Su***de Prevention Month comes to a close, it's important to remind ourselves that the conversation about mental health and su***de awareness doesn't end here. While the official month may be over, support is always available for those in need, and our commitment to this cause remains constant.

The Importance of Continuing the Conversation
Su***de prevention isn't limited to a single month—it’s a year-round effort. Many people feel hesitant to speak about their struggles, fearing judgment or misunderstanding, but know that reaching out is a sign of strength. If you or someone you know is struggling, you don’t have to wait for the "right time" to ask for help.

As a licensed therapist, I want to emphasize the ongoing availability of services for anyone experiencing feelings of hopelessness, anxiety, depression, or thoughts of self-harm. If I am unavailable to help, I am more than willing to provide referrals for other colleagues who also have availability.

"Literally Me" Characters: What They Reveal About Your Mental Health🐦‍⬛🧠

Have you ever watched a movie or TV show and thought, "That character is literally me"? If so, you’re in good company! The latest trend, "Literally Me" characters, is about people identifying with fictional figures who reflect their inner worlds. At Mental Health with Jojo, we believe these connections can offer valuable insights into our mental health.

What Are "Literally Me" Characters?

"Literally Me" characters are those fictional personas we feel connected to because they mirror our emotions, personalities, or life situations. Some examples include:

Wednesday Addams – An embodiment of independence, confidence in one’s quirks, and being unapologetically different.
These characters give us a way to see ourselves and our mental health challenges through a new lens.
