Weight-loss or Fat-loss - it can be one of the most challenging things you’ll ever do. Now that’s not because it’s so hard but because you don’t know exactly what to do and how.

Because you’re a Achiever, you can’t fathom “why can’t I get this right”, “This shouldn’t be hard”

But more importantly, you can get lost in - can you be consistent or not. Your mind must create the space for you to truly commit to a lifestyle and not just a plan.

Often it’s thought, if I’m more disciplined, I’ll be more successful. That couldn’t be further from the truth!

Most people can do anything for 30 days, maybe even 60, but can you do something for 1 year, 2 years, 5 years, 10 years? That’s where habits are critical. Habits are what create consistency!

Let’s talk about how you change them and are successful now and in the future.

1. Be honest about what you want! Don’t shy away from your true desire. Don’t shrink it down to what other people think you should want

2. Know it’s OK to not be the expert in this and stop being embarrassed to ask for help

3. You’ve been “dieting” or in a deficit too long. It’s mentally exhausting and can miss the mark on your real desire

4. Stop focusing only on the scale! There is more to your body and health. Use other benchmarks to help you track progress.

5. Account for all items consumed - not just the ones that you see as “food” - this means condiments, liquids, random snacking, etc.
This will build awareness to where you real issue is

6. Take away the time constraints on hitting the full goal. Create milestones to assess progress. Know changing your body and creating habits takes time.

Enjoy the process and continue to challenge yourself!

“ll start again on Monday!” We all have said those words…

But who really wants to do that? Nobody!

It’s draining and emotionally exhausting!

It shows that our plan may not be the best one for us. It also may signal we are not putting ourselves in a position to see success.

Here’s what I mean -

🔴buying ice cream at the grocery store knowing it’s one of your triggers if it’s in your home

đź”´going out for drinks when you said you need to cut back;

🔴knowing you can’t yet handle being around it and not consuming

đź”´not preparing any food and staring at an empty refrigerator which pushes you to order

🔴eating salad only all week and then saying “you deserve to eat whatever you want” because it’s the weekend

These are damaging behaviors to your journey!

Instead try this -

âś…Create a food and exercise plan for the week that includes the weekend

âś…Keep your routine as consistent as you can even on Saturday and Sunday

âś…Be sure your food routine - no matter the goal - is realistic, sustainable, and includes foods you like and enjoy

âś…Keep a form of activity on the weekend - walking, training, hiking, dancing, active recovery, deep breathing, stretching, etc.

✅Don’t lose sight of your fluid intake

My goodness, so much of any weight-loss journey or any that involves food, it’s key 🔑 to understand how much food your body requires. There is no one size fits all approach and especially when you’re looking for sustainability!

Many factors are taken into account when determining a starting point of how much food or how many calories a person should eat for their purpose - current weight, age, intentional activity, typical work activity, medical conditions, etc. So when I hear someone tell me yes the “plan” had everyone on xyz calories, I’m annoyed and disappointed because I know the frustration and distrust this can cause of being coached or participating in weight-loss or lifestyle improvement programs.

Know that even to lose weight or change your lifestyle, you shouldn’t feel penalized and think you deserve to starve. You still must eat based on the body you’re currently in while being in a caloric deficit - which does not mean starving!

This is how I’ve lived this lifestyle personally and for my clients. This is not a prison where you are being judged - we just need the right quantity of food fpr your goals, current concerns and activity levels!

Insight into what’s really going on….

You hear “be more” disciplined.

I share daily for my busy and “boss” professionals working toward a healthy lifestyle, weight-loss, or physique goal - it’s not about you being disciplined but more about you making decisions with consistency that help you move closer to your goal.

It can be hard and you feel like you’re the only one - I want to assure you that you are not alone!

This is the main struggle for many - it’s the one item you can’t delegate out; you have to actually be the one doing. You’ve made a career out of being resourceful, soaring with your strengths, putting the right people in position to help you be efficient.

In this journey that support is a Coach! But you ultimately have to be the to actually execute.

The goal is to break things down in “workable” chunks that suit your readiness, ability, and life. Early winning is key! This is what helps you see you too can have what you want - it’s not just for other people.

So the next time you feel discouraged thinking you weren’t disciplined enough, instead think through do you have the “know how” and 'tools” to make a different decision.

A journey to a healthy lifestyle or body transformation journey is so much more than what you do....it's how you think!

So often we view things from a lens that no longer represents the true picture that is us and where we want to go to be the best version of ourselves.

We can be using pictures and moments in time that don't remotely align with WHO you want to become but unfortunately has become your measuring stick. This is a very dangerous way of thinking - mentally it can affect how you view yourself and more importantly how you assess true progress along the way.

You can miss all the improvements because your gage is not measuring things that actually matter today.

When you stop living in the past and start looking at what really matters today on your journey, you will:

âś…become happier
âś…notice where you are seeing growth
âś…appreciate who you are becoming vs. tearing it down for not being what used to be. That's not growing!

Over the next few weeks, really think about if that's you and if it is, how will you redirect and get your compass pointing in the right direction to become the best version of yourself - make no excuses and re-plot your course to win and don’t look backwards!

I know, this one can be so triggering but it needs to be discussed!

Losing weight, gaining more muscle, creating sustainable lifestyle routines is more than just food and exercise. You can be on the outside doing all the right things but not seeing the movement in your health metrics, the scale, or seeing changes in your body. You keep trying to change the plan or your strategy but have not addressed the emotion behind what might be in your way.

You can be holding on to -

✍🏽guilt
✍🏽shame
✍🏽resentment
✍🏽feelings of inadequacy
✍🏽imposter syndrome
✍🏽extreme lack of confidence (no one can see)
✍🏽feeling unworthy
✍🏽lack of the love you desire

There are so many reasons but know they sit with you like luggage. They are your baggage on this journey and travel with you everywhere except you are not going on a trip!

It’s time to unpack!!! As you clear out the baggage that continues to weigh you down, you will find the journey gets easier - not so heavy.

Your health starts to improve, the scale is moving, your body is physically changing and you feel like you aren’t working as hard to accomplish your goals.

Take stock of your baggage an it’s time to get rid of it!

Does that sound familiar…..

I know this all too well. You want to jump “all in” immediately and may miss the mental aspect of how ready you really are. Are you about to take on activities that you can sustain and actually do with 85% ex*****on.

I like to call this the “Doing Too Much Pitfall”

It happens so often and then you get discouraged because you think you failed. But no you didn’t fail, your plan was just not realistic and required too much of you too soon.

You have to realize that it’s ok to be challenged and push yourself in a way that you can actually see wins and can keep doing. it doesn’t have to be an “all or nothing” approach.

Life is not all or nothing and neither should your healthy lifestyle or body goal journey be.

It takes time to build into creating new habits but the most important part is HONESTY with self - can you actually do what you are saying. Now, you may not know how to do it all and need help but can you actually commit the time and are the changes ones you can stick to without feeling lost and overwhelmed.

Reminder - on this journey, the best plan is the one you can actually stick to!

OK OK - who hasn’t been there…

The full day work conference or meeting and you are only thinking: “Oh no, what am I going to eat; this is about to mess up my plan.”

You may not want to admit it, but I know you’ve said it. I know I have too.

But here’s the deal - this is why we work on having a relationship with food where variety in meal choice is normal and welcomed. You want to get to a place where it doesn’t matter where you go or are, you can make a great meal work for you with almost anything - repeat almost anything

No one day or one meal is going to set you back - it’s what you do CONSISTENTLY that matters most. Now of course this takes time to develop but each day you focus on making one more decision that gets you closer to this is called WINNING!!!

So at the meeting, you be confident and follow this:
1. Don’t Panic
2. See all of the options available
3. Create balance from available options
4. Manage portions
5. Enjoy your meal and meeting

More importantly don’t worry about what other people think or say - DO YOU!
