An integrative art psychotherapist, rock art author, creative and clinical supervisor. Born in Malta, Denise Scicluna is an art therapist, author, clinical supervisor, mindfulness practitioner, and abstract painter based in London. As a qualified art therapist and a self-taught abstract painter, I am passionate

about sharing the knowledge of how art-making and creative processes within a safe space can lead to a better understanding of life and oneself. My creative skills lie in supporting the journey of self-exploration and personal growth rather than developing a skill or master in the art.

I have a Masters' degree in Art Psychotherapy and a Bachelors' degree in Psychology. I am registered with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the British Association of Art Therapists (BAAT). My private practice takes place online and in-person.

My therapeutic approach is Jungian based and psychodynamic and it also incorporates a mindfulness framework. My therapy practice stems from the belief that everyone is innately creative and I passionately believe that art-making and creating can be an act of self-care and a way of nurturing ourselves.

I love keeping busy with side art projects. I am the author of two arts and crafts books called Rock Art (2015) and Pebble Pets (2018). I also founded Malta's first contemporary crafts market called Patches Market.

LAST CALL for the last spot for joining my signature online program The Transitional Space which starts THIS Monday 23rd March. DM for details or share with any one you know who needs this support

As an art psychotherapist, I’ve seen how often high-functioning, capable and overworked people lose connection with themselves.

Not because they’re unwell.
But because they’re too busy. Responsible. Holding a lot.

🌍 Feeling the weight of the world on their shoulders.

Over time, creativity gets replaced with productivity.
Reflection gets replaced with urgency.
And something quietly essential goes offline.

‼️Autopilot mode switches on.

The Transitional Space is an 8-week guided creative program designed for busy working professionals who are ready to pause - and reconnect.

This isn’t about becoming “artistic.”

It’s about using simple creative exploration as a psychological space - a place where you can think, feel, process and re-orient.

✨The structure is gentle but intentional.
✨The group is small and carefully held.
✨The process is informed by therapeutic principles - without being therapy.

If you’ve been feeling stretched thin, stuck, or quietly disconnected from yourself… this is an invitation to step into something different.

LAST CALL FOR THE LAST 2 SPOTS
👉🏼The next cohort begins on March 23rd.
Evening online sessions: Monday 6-8pm

You don’t need experience.

✨Just curiosity - and a willingness to meet yourself more honestly.

This is your reminder that progress isn’t perfect and growth isn’t linear.

And the moments that feel like setbacks are often part of the process.

So if today feels like a step back, don’t panic - you’re still in the dance ❤️

In this last week of February, I am running the last few Discovery Calls for my signature creative program for busy working professionals - The Transitional Space.

The program starts on March 23rd and we will meet every Monday evenings from 6pm - 8pm *UK time*.

If you have been curious or are feeling called to join, here is the last call to register your interest. After you register you will be invited for a free Discovery Call with me so we can connect and discuss how the program can support you.

I go through a selective process and carefully choose who joins this program. The small group consists of busy working professionals who are seeking to connect with their creativity as a way of moving forward in life (even if they've never touched a paintbrush before..).

DM me with any questions - happy to help

🌀 ✨

Our development -and apparently that of nature overall- doesn’t move in a perfect straight line. It circles, at times in the same place, without depth, without elevation, and other time we assimilate, click, experience epiphanies. The latter is what can make us spiral deeper in knowledge and higher to broaden our perspective. This has nothing to do with accumulation of information, even though it can be of help in the process.

More often than we’d like to admit, we need to return to the same themes we didn’t give much importance. And other times we even experience the same wounds, in the same or a different form. The same questions we were sure to have figured out might pop out in our heads and make experience a sense of confusion and insecurity.

When we go through this, the first feeling that might come without much warning can be discouragement. In some corner of our mind we think that we’re back right where we started. Don’t accept this suggestion without critical thought. I found out that more often than not, it was an automatic, self-imposed illusion.

With more discernment and self-compassion combined, we can see past that veil of illusion the fact that we’re meeting the same lesson -or this lesson with an upgrade, now that we’re ready- from a different “level” of awareness.

That what it means for the path to be like a spiral. We move (symbolically speaking) “two steps forward” to explore, to overcome our limits, to open our mind which tends to crystallize if we live it passive for long enough, and “one step back” in order to assimilate, feelings, experiences, lessons.

When we confuse these lessons for standing in one place, miss what’s really going on. What’s truly going on is that we revisit what we thought you understood - it can be patience, boundaries, discipline, love- and we see something we couldn’t see before.

We don’ outgrow every mistake once and for all. We integrate them gradually. And often pain of the ego, or pain of regret is part of the ‘package’. In cases like this, the pain we feel in this return is another layer of illusion that is striped. The less friction, the less resistance towards this fact, the less we suffer.

Are you ready to make space for your creativity in 2026?

If you are a busy working professional looking to connect with your creativity as a way of moving forward in life (even if you’ve never touched a paintbrush before...), then read on! 👇🏻

The Transitional Space is an online 8 week creative program for busy working professionals who feel stuck or overwhelmed.

It is not a program for artists.
It is a guided creative journey to help you reconnect with yourself and what is important for you - without needing to be “artistic.”

💫After the program you will shift from feeling:
Stuck or overwhelmed, restless, and disconnected from yourself and your needs to living a life that is more playful and creative.

🎉You will feel:
Confident and open, creative and inspired, connected to yourself and others, in tune with your needs and values, and open to practicing creativity in your life.

We start in March 2026 and there are 4 spots left.
Curious? Send me a message and I’ll tell you more.

👉🏻Or head to this link and register your interest: www.denisesciclunaart.com/thetransitionalspace (link in bio)

The journey is supported and facilitated by an artist and a registered art therapist (that’s me!).

Let’s connect! ❤️

💝Ever wondered about inner child work and what it's all about?

Our inner child is that part of us that remembers the joy of childhood - the innocence, the freedom, and the playfulness.

👩🏻‍🎨Your inner child is also your inner artist. This is the part of us that is fearless, imaginative, playful - but also tender and sensitive. It’s the part that may throw a tantrum or melt down in the face of overwhelm or challenge.

It often gets forgotten as we grow up and get caught up in the responsibilities of adult life. Yet it’s still there - often craving attention, care, space, and some good parenting too.

This inner artist is yearning to express itself.

This longing is often stronger if, growing up, we didn’t have a supportive environment for creativity and play. Many of us were met with caution rather than encouragement. Few parents say, “Try it and see what happens,” when artistic urges arise.

If that was your experience, then your inner child, your inner artist, needs even more love, nurturing, and attention now. As an adult, you have the power to give it what it didn’t receive.

🎨Creativity flourishes in environments of safety and self-acceptance. Your artist, like any small child, feels happiest and most free when they feel safe.

As the protective parent of your artist-child and grown adult, your role is to surround it with supportive people and spaces that welcome your creative self - environments where it feels safe to explore, express, and simply be.

💛My signature program The Transitional Space offers this safe space, and in this journey we delve into the topic of inner child work, which lead to beautiful expressive art and discoveries in our group.

Here is an invitation to find those spaces; to find a way to nurture your inner child and to find a way to work with it so that it can feel loved, safe and free.

The Transitional Space - my 8 week creative program for busy working professionals is my signature program, running annually for busy professionals seeking creative connection as a way to move forward in life.

🙌🏻We start a new journey in March 2026 and there are 4 spots left.

Setting up the space will provide an important grounding for your journey.

Remember though, that you do not need a large studio or a huge space.

As part of this process, I would recommend arranging a simple and practical space in your home for your creativity.

Keep the setup to a minimum but view your spot as your sacred space.

🕯Use a small lamp in your space in case you will be creating art in the later hours of the day, find a box and put in all your art supplies in it.

🍁Collect found objects (pebbles, feathers, leaves, recycled paper); look through your drawers - you will be surprised by how many pens and other art materials you might find! Treat yourself by going to an art store. Explore what you are drawn to.

Place everything in your art box.

🌵Pick a favourite plant, a picture frame, or a set of photos of your liking. Maybe some postcards you've gathered over the years. Maybe an affirmation or a quote that can bring you back to yourself.

Don’t forget that you can use the floor too!

💫Most importantly, find a space where you think you will not be disturbed. And remember to respect and honour your space. A space that is fundamental as you choose to enter a transitional space.

Reflections:
✨How can I honour my creative corner?
✨What do I need to make it mine?
✨How can I set up a space in which I am not disturbed by others?

This is something the busy working professionals in The Transitional Space will be supported with during my 8-week creative online program for busy working professionals which starts in March 2026.
