Back in the day, policing the behaviors of our community was a strategy based on survival.

Did you know that starting your wellness journey could alleviate chronic stress?

You knew that.
So what's stopping you from taking better care of yourself?

I challenge you to find out.
> Take 5 minutes to meditate.
> Pick a prompt (or do them all) and write your answers in a journal.

Wellness isn't some out of reach pass time.
It's daily practices we do that calm our nervous systems, improves our moods, & breaks the stress cycle.

I grew up hearing that I "talked white" from everybody & it irked my soul!

Those remarks only scratched the surface of how much stigma we have internalized & accepted as a part of Black culture, as opposed to things just being a matter of circumstance.

I've mentioned before how Black Health has been strategically ignored in the past, but as time goes on, studies like the ones listed below will continue to show just how the health disparity has more to do with institutionalized race than just the way we live.

Mental fitness is JUST AS if not even MORESO important than physical fitness. Consider everytime you experience an adverse emotion a workout. We should all be reaching to be just as strong mentally as we can be physically.

How? Good question.

Well, you start by learning yourself. Learning what your triggers are. Practice breathing before responding, whatever happened, can wait for you to gather yourself.

Second step is to acknowledge when you feel yourself slipping. The more you recognize it, the better you get at catching yourself.

It takes a lot of getting used to, and you will get discouraged because old habits die hard, but eventually, you'll get to a point where it's second nature.

Good luck on the journey and remember to go easy on yourself and give yourself lots of grace. I'm rooting for you!
