Instead of ED (eating disorder recovery) a pro-recovery place for those affected by eating disorders or disordered eating. This page was created out of need. That's what this page is for.

Sometimes when wanting to engage in ED behavior it's hard to think of what to do instead. This is a group endeavor that further demonstrates that we never have to do this alone. One advantage of being older is the wisdom of being able to reflect back on a longer life experience (vs when younger). On the other hand, I hear the tune of The Final Countdown playing in the background lol😄. Don't let that be a downer though. Hear my voice when I say that life is precious. One of my earlier posts we discussed how often people are check1ng their bodies. Somebody suggested putting affirmations on the bottom of the mirror to help balance negativity. Great idea! It reminded me of an activity i did with the group i led (and also online). Take Post-its (or whatever) and answer this question: I am...
List positive attributes. If you can't come up with anything, ask friends or family - or list things you want to be. I actually still have one word on my mirror from years ago. It's the word "enough." So even if you can't think of anything else, maybe you can say that you are enough. One day you might even believe it 😊

It might seem harmless at first but it can then start hurting you more than helping. One thing that you can do is to get rid of the scale. I KNOW. It's easier said than done. "It's not about me, it's about you." What would it take to actually say that to someone who tried to shame you (or someone else) because of your size? I admit that in the past, that would have been tough for a number of reasons. I'd hope that where I am today, I could actually address it differently. Ouch! I was guilty of that at one time & had friends who also had E Ds that would join me. We had such unhealthy competitions. I can look back on that now and see how E D can really change how you think. Now when my stomach growls, at the worst i am annoyed. Who can relate to any part of this? (BTW- now i go eat. Literally now, I'm hungry! I have ice cream too and that's ok. 😊)

It's the weekend. Let's do something fun - even if it's small. This isn't a competition, but a time to do something enjoyable (although that's not limited to the weekend). For me, it's one of the last times to have a fire & grill with friends before it gets too hot. What are you up to? Can you stretch your comfort zone?
