What can you do to help prevent falls and help your loved one stay safe and independent at home?

• Check the floors. Keep them clear of clutter and loose rugs.
• Check the lighting. Are there enough lamps in every room? Use night lights and bright lamps in dark areas.
• Add support: Install grab bars in bathrooms and use non-slip mats in tubs.
• Check on footwear. Help your loved one find sturdy, non-slip shoes and slippers for wearing indoors.
• Access to common items: Place everyday items within easy reach. Check cupboards and closets - is there anything that should come down a level?

Small steps like these can reduce fall risks. If you need extra support, Daughter for Hire is here to help. Call us at (407) 815-6670

Caring for an aging loved one is one of the most meaningful things a person can do—but it’s also exhausting, emotional, and often isolating.

If you love a caregiver, here are a few ways you can truly support them:
• Reach out – A simple “How are you doing?” goes a long way. Don’t wait for them to ask.
• Resist bright-siding – You don’t need to fix it. It doesn’t help telling them to look for the silver lining in a truly terrible situation. Avoid saying everything happens for a reason or beginning sentences with “at least it’s not…” Just listen and let them be honest.
• Be specific – Instead of saying, “Let me know if you need anything,” try “Can I bring dinner Wednesday?” or “Can I sit with your dad while you run errands?”
• Keep showing up – Caregiving is ongoing. Keep checking in, even after the big moments pass.

The smallest gestures often mean the most. Your steady support can help a caregiver feel less alone.

Did you know? A consistent, daily routine, while beneficial for all of us, can be crucial for those living with Alzheimer’s or dementia-related diseases?
When familiar patterns are maintained for those suffering from more severe illness, you can help your loved one feel safe and secure, reduce stress and anxiety, and even sleep better at night. But what can you do to help establish a routine? Here are a few simple ways to start.
- Wake up and go to bed at the same time each day to help reinforce the body’s natural rhythms.
- Serve meals at the same times each day and in the same place, using familiar dishes and settings.
- Use visual schedules or written reminders to help guide them through the day.
- Create consistency in hygiene routines—like brushing teeth, bathing, and dressing—by doing them in the same order each day.
- Plan calm, low-stimulation activities in the evening to help your loved ones wind down before bed.
- Incorporate favorite activities like music, short walks, or looking at photo albums at the same time each day to provide a sense of joy and familiarity.

We often talk about the services our Care Companions provide at Daughter for Hire, but we rarely talk about the heart behind it all. Because for us, it’s not just about the work.
Our caregivers are compassionate and patient. Oftentimes they’ve had the experience of providing care for their own parent, partner, child, or friend. They truly care. And that kind of heart can’t be taught. It’s what sets our Care Companions apart. And it’s why families trust Daughter for Hire to care for the people they love most.

The fourth of July isn’t the only time you should celebrate your independence – in fact, we do it all the time here at Daughter for Hire! Each day, our caregivers work to help seniors maintain their independence in the comfort of their own home. Like you, we believe your loved ones should be able to have the freedom to live life on their own terms. As you know, sometimes that takes a little bit of support.
Getting older isn’t easy—but with a little help, your loved ones can stay comfortable, connected, and continue living with purpose. Our Care Companions lend a hand, offer encouragement, and provide the extra support that seniors need. And provide you peace of mind. Here’s to (senior) independence!

We’re honored to share this heartfelt review from a family we support in Oviedo, Florida. From the thoughtful matching process to the meaningful connection between their mother and her Care Companion, Andrea, stories like these are exactly why we do what we do. Read the full testimonial below - and thank you to this special family for trusting us to care for your loved ones.

“We were referred to Tim and Gail Flowers at Daughter for Hire by dear friends that know Tim and Gail well but had no firsthand experience with their company. Our friends based their referral on knowing that Tim and Gail care deeply about the people they serve and have the best of character and integrity.

We are extremely pleased with our interactions with Tim and Gail. Their orientation meeting with us was very helpful and productive. They were thoughtful in the questions they asked and worked hard to understand the situation and how they could best be of help. Then they assigned a person they thought would be a good fit.

Andrea, the caregiver Tim and Gail assigned to help our 90+ year old loved ones, has been a Godsend. She is very proactive in finding ways to be helpful and encouraging. At present, she helps Mother primarily but also supports Mother’s efforts to visit and help Father, who has recently moved to memory care. Their relationship has quickly built in a very positive way such that a few weeks after she started, Mother introduced Andrea to acquaintances as her friend and Andrea saw that as a wonderful compliment.

We could not be more pleased with Daughter for Hire. They have been very helpful and have provided tremendous value to our loved ones. Their pricing seems very fair to us. We would wholeheartedly recommend Daughter for Hire to anyone needing help for aging loved ones.”

While June is Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month, today is the Summer Solstice, otherwise known as the longest day of the year. What does that mean for Alzheimer’s? Incredibly, it’s meant to symbolize the day with the most light. Today we shine a light on Alzheimer’s and the strength of those facing it.
At Daughter for Hire, we stand with families and caregivers who walk this journey every single day. We’ve seen firsthand the love, the heartache, and the resilience it takes to care for someone with Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia. That’s why we remain committed to offering care, companionship, and moments of relief for those who need it most.
Today, we honor the caregivers. We remember those we’ve lost. And we stand with those still fighting. Wear purple. Share your story. Support each other. Because no one should face Alzheimer’s alone.
