“The Crimson Guest”

In midnight’s hush where shadows dwell,
A whisper stirs — a silver bell.
He walks where moonlight dares not shine,
A curse of blood, a kiss divine.

His eyes, twin lanterns lost in flame,
Have watched as empires rose — and waned.
He danced through plagues and velvet halls,
A ghost in mirrors, doomed to fall.

No heart to beat, no soul to mourn,
He weeps not for the life forlorn.
Yet still he knocks on mortal doors
And dreams of what was his before.

A lover’s breath, a mother’s grace,
The sun upon a child’s face —
All gone, and in their place remains
The thirst, the hunger, crimson stains.

He drinks, not out of rage or pride,
But longing death has not denied.
Each victim’s sigh, a lullaby
To lull the centuries passing by.

But oh — one night beneath the yew,
A girl with eyes like twilight dew
Spoke not in fear, but tender trust:
“Come in, my love. We’re both of dust.”

He drank no more, he fed no less,
Yet craved not blood — but her caress.
And so they sit through endless years,
Two fading stars with bottled tears.

Immortal kiss, eternal night —
Not every monster fears the light.
Some simply seek what they once missed:
A hand to hold. A mouth to kiss.
