Birch Tree Wellness, LLC

Birch Tree Wellness, LLC Professional therapeutic massage, reiki, and craniosacral therapy in a safe, supportive environment. Hi! My pronouns are she/her/hers. Bad puns make me happy.

I'm Tricia, licensed massage therapist (LMT), and owner of Birch Tree Wellness. I’d love to tell you all how I’m this super Zen, calm & collected, healing Earth Mother of a massage therapist. I’m pretty sure that’s what it would say on my cape. But, while I do have my moments of awesome zen-healing-earth-mother-ness - and that’s my ultimate goal in life - the truth is, I’m a weirdo (aren’t we all?

). All the Jobs

My background is as varied as you can imagine. I grew up in Central New York, lived in Hawaii for 3 years, and have lived in Maine since 2008. Many moons before becoming a massage therapist, I got a degree in graphic arts. When time allows, still create art as much as possible. After graduating with my art degree, I spent many years as a veterinary assistant. There was also inevitable time spent in retail and customer service. Finally, I found my way to massage school in 2015. In addition, I’ve spent more than 30 years working in intuitive arts, Reiki, and energy healing. Also a Nerd

I’m an introvert who keeps putting herself into decidedly non-introvert situations. I'm likely to tell bad jokes and talk about my cats like they’re my kids. (I also welcome sharing pet photos!) If chatting about random nerdy topics is your thing, I’m in! You can find me entertaining, educating, and informing on my blog, Instagram, and Facebook. Compassionate

That being said, I am Passionate about helping people feel better. (Yes, with a capital P.) I love working with my clients to sort out the source of their pain and figure out the best way to resolve it. Sometimes it’s massage, other times it’s Reiki, or stretches, or maybe working in conjunction with your doctor, physical therapist, or chiropractor. I will follow your lead during the massage. If you want to talk, we can talk, but if you want to just zone out and listen to the music, I will be quiet. If you want to learn more, I will happily geek out about your muscles and how they work. Just ask me how you think it’s one muscle causing the problem, but it might actually be another muscle. Or I can go on and on about how posture contributes to muscle pain. Science! I love to research techniques to help you with your specific problems (more science!). I'm happy to recommend tools and exercises you can use at home between appointments. If you can accept a few bad puns and awkward commentary about life, you will find that I strive to provide you with the best massage ever, whether it’s therapeutic or you just need to relax. I encourage questions and conversation, and you’re always welcome to contact me to talk about your goals for your massage therapy. Let’s work together to help your body set up the conditions needed to promote self-healing. Be Well,
Tricia, LMT

This may not seem like that exciting of a post to everyone out there, but to those of you who have used the office bathroom in the last couple of weeks, it is!

We finally got the bathroom door frame straightened and attached to the wall and were able to add an actual doorknob! No more random “peephole” 😂

Apologies for not posting any updates recently, we’ve been on a dead run for the last two weeks! I’ve been seeing appointments in the new office and on our days off we’ve continued working on the building, AND bringing the last of the stuff out of the old office.

The old office is finally empty! In the new office, we have a mostly functional bathroom. For those of you who have experienced it in its more rustic state, we have actual lighting AND a doorknob!

My goal today, since the weather was actually tolerable, was to clean up in front of the building. Most of the construction detritus is out of the way and I put edging along the mulch path. Then I raked the “front yard” in preparation for seed. Tomorrow I hope to get down a mix of low mow wildflower grass and clover seeds.

There’s still more to do inside, but we’re getting there!

Making it a little easier for you to find me! Eventually I’ll put up a fancier one (when I’m done hemorrhaging money on this project). For now, it’s a fancy lawn sign.

Well, I don’t have a bathroom yet, but the massage room is coming together nicely. I’ve seen a few clients today and got great feedback. There’s still some chaos to deal with but at least I found a little zen where it counts!

I was tossing my hot stone rocks, decorative rocks, and crystals in this box when I realized it might be getting heavy. So, I labeled it.

This got the desired effect when one of the movers picked up the box and said, “What’s in this, rocks? Oh. Yep, rocks.”

Aaaaand we’re moved! I highly recommend Fox & Ginn Movers. Ray & Brian were careful and conscientious with all of the stuff, especially the very expensive, very heavy massage table. As you can see by the last photo, I’m totally ready for business! (Not!)

OMG. The last couple of weeks have gone by in a blur! The movers arrive at the office at 8am tomorrow and am I ready? Ehhhh maybe? 😂

The floor is done enough that we can put the massage table in place and I’ll finish that up this weekend, then hopefully get a coat of paint on the new walls while Mr. BTW finished up the bathroom.

There may be a bit of assembly still required when Monday’s appointments arrive, but it should be functional!

Today’s view from the new office windows. The bird sounds, chipmunks, the creek, and the breeze blowing through make me think that playing my nature sounds music might be a bit redundant 😆

About Birch Tree Wellness

Welcome to Birch Tree Wellness Massage Therapy, providing professional, high quality therapeutic massage, bodywork and other healing modalities in a safe, caring environment.

Massage is not just an indulgence! If you are struggling with chronic pain, stress, anxiety, or depression, massage can help. The cycle of stress/pain/distress can create chronic holding patterns in our bodies. Massage helps break these patterns by relieving muscle tension, reducing muscle tension related pain, decreasing stress hormones (cortisol), and increasing positive hormones (endorphins).

Sometimes it’s hard to tell if our pain comes from our emotional or mental distress, or if that distress is caused by chronic pain. Either way, Birch Tree Wellness is all about helping you break the cycle of pain, find relief, and improve your mental while being while allowing your body to set up the conditions needed to heal itself. I believe in supporting mind, body and spirit on the path to wellness, and can help you find the right combination to get you on the right path.

You can find out more about the different types of massage and healing on the Services page. To schedule an appointment online, you can Book Now on MassageBook.com
