This is my journey!
I was a wiry athlete who really wanted to get into building athleticism, health, size and strength. I wanted to know how to get there as soon as possible so that all my hard work carried over to results. As I got into researching I fell in love with the way our bodies are intricately designed, the way we should take care of our bodies and how to challenge them. I switched my major from Accounting to Kinesiology and within 3 years of studying and applying it to myself I went from picture 1 to picture 2!
As we all know we get busy and priorities compete for our time and energy. I transitioned from college into the work force, single to married, no children to having a stepdaughter and soon after a son of our own. Life hit hard. Tons of transition! All blessings but also very stressful and so much time and energy spent. Despite my great personal growth in character, my fitness and health took a turn for the worst. I didn’t know how to be more efficient with exercise and healthy eating and squeezing it into my life. I began turning to food as a comfort and stress reliever. I started choosing convenient processed foods over nutrient dense foods. All of this lead to gaining about 25lbs and a loss of some muscle from photos 2 to 3. My energy and emotions suffered. Eventually I had enough and decided to stop using my own excuses and struggles as a crutch and began studying and applying the discipline of efficiency in training and diet in a busy and hectic lifestyle.
Sure enough I made sustainable and small lifestyle changes and I managed to lose fat and gain muscle to change from photo 3 to photo 4 in a year while working 1 full time job, 2 part time jobs, and a young family. It wasn’t easy and I wasn’t as consistent as I had hoped but I didn’t give up and the photos speak for themselves. Despite being the same weight as last year my body composition has dramatically improved (more muscle, less fat), my energy is higher again, and my focus and motivation is back!
