Welcome to Hauber House! Not sure what this page will turn in to.
Backstory: my mom has some health issues and about 5 yrs ago she ended up in a nursing home, it was just suppose to be short term while she got meds adjusted and got stronger. Well a few weeks turned into yrs due to poor care there. I vowed to get her home and keep her home no matter what.
We brought her home Christmas of 2017. We needed help there so we hired a home care agency to staff it.
They recently raised their rates and it just became too much!! Again vowing to be able to keep her home as long as she was safely able to I knew something had to change.
I posted the job on care. com and found an amazing person there. Then I posted on fb and found 2 more. While posting the job I reached out to our good friends Tricia and Stephen who helped walk me through the business side of this endeavor.
Federal tax id, state withholding numbers, payroll software, insurance. Oh my, it was all new to me.
Hauber House was created!! Jan 10th we hired our first employee. 2 more 2 weeks later and I officially gave notice to the home care agency on Monday that we were done.
So, as of Jan 30th we will be done w them and running solely as Hauber House.
With some help for the main caregiver who has worked her butt off the last 4 yrs hoping the company would get some ppl so she could have a break, we are going to get some activities going for mom, get her baking and doing puzzles and crafts.
Like I said I’m not sure what this page will evolve to but I have some ideas
-share more of the story setting up the private pay care
-share the activities and projects yes she does
Thanks for reading :)
