As many of you know, my background is in education. Teaching has always shaped how I learn by listening, asking questions, and staying curious.
I learn so much from my exceptional clients that I see in my studio: the patterns I notice, the conditions we talk through, and the questions that come up again and again. Those conversations shape how I continue to learn, both for my clients and for my own family.
When I share something about wellness, it’s usually because it’s something I’m actively learning, exploring, or finding helpful in real life.
Lately, I’ve been learning more about hydration, mineral balance, lymphatic support, detoxing, and blood sugar regulation.

🌿 Spirulina + Gentle Detox Support
Your body is detoxing every single day through your liver, kidneys, gut, skin, and lymph system. Sometimes it just needs a little nutritional support.
One plant-based ally that’s been getting a lot of attention lately is spirulina, a blue-green algae rich in minerals, antioxidants, and plant protein.
What is spirulina (pronounced spi-ri-lina)?
🌱Spirulina is a nutrient-rich blue-green algae known for its high protein content and numerous health benefits. It is rich in plant-based protein, minerals, antioxidants, and chlorophyll; nutrients that support hydration, liver function, and inflammation balance.
🌱What does spirulina do for your body?
*Binds to heavy metals and helps the body es**rt them out
*Supports liver function, your main detox organ
*Reduces oxidative stress & inflammation
*Supports immune health and digestion
*Helps regulate blood sugar levels
One of my favorite ways to incorporate spirulina is in a homemade electrolyte drink. Especially helpful during sauna use, bodywork recovery, seasonal fatigue, and during sporting events.
So instead of purchasing those fancy, expensive, high in sugar, and sodium electrolyte sports drinks that have questionable additives including artificial sweeteners and dyes try a natural alternative that supports and promotes a healthy body.
⚡Homemade Electrolyte Drink with Spirulina⚡
Ingredients
16–20 oz filtered water or coconut water
Juice of ½ lemon and lime (You can add more if you like.)
¼ –½ tsp high-quality sea salt (for electrolytes)
½–1 tsp local honey (I like to use 1 TBPS Monk Fruit.)
½ –1 tsp spirulina powder
Great for hydration without artificial dyes or additives.
Where can you get spirulina? The Health Connection Health Food Store located at 314 A Ave E Oskaloosa. 📍
