Looking for a way to make a difference right here in Putnam County?

Putnam County HomeCare & Hospice is looking for caring volunteers to join our team! 🌿 Whether it’s sitting with patients, offering a listening ear, helping with office work, or supporting families in simple but meaningful ways — volunteers are the heart of what we do.

No medical background is needed — just compassion, kindness, and a little bit of your time. ✨ Training is provided, and your gift of presence can mean the world to someone walking through life’s most difficult moments.

If you’ve ever thought about volunteering, now is a wonderful time to get involved. 💐

📞 Call us at 419-523-4449 and talk to our Volunteer Coordinator, Kaylee Wilhelm,

Together, we can bring comfort, dignity, and hope to our community. 💙

We are so proud of our very own Kaylee Wilhelm, LSW, GC-C! Kaylee has officially earned her Certification in Grief Counseling and we couldn’t be more excited to celebrate her.

At Putnam County HomeCare & Hospice, we know caring for patients and families isn’t just physical care, it’s emotional too. This certification helps us keep walking beside families through some of the hardest moments.

We asked Kaylee a few questions about her journey:

Q: What was the most meaningful part of the certification process for you?
👉 I learned how grief affects people in so many ways. Emotionally, physically, and spiritually. It reminded me grief is not something to ‘fix’ but a journey to walk alongside. I also realized that sometimes just being present and listening is the most powerful gift someone needs.

Q: How does grief counseling connect with the mission of Putnam County HomeCare & Hospice?
👉 Hospice is not just about the patient, it is about the family too. Grief counseling is really just an extension of that mission of compassion and care. Our mission talks about quality of life and dignity, and grief counseling helps me make sure that even in loss, our families feel seen, heard, and supported and that is dignity in action!

Q: What’s one thing you’d like people to know about grief?
👉 There’s no right or wrong way to grieve. It’s different for everyone and it takes the time, that it takes. You don’t just ‘get over it,’ you learn how to carry it in different ways over time.

Help us congratulate Kaylee on this amazing accomplishment! 🎉👏

🌟 Grief Camp Day 2 Recap 🌟

What a beautiful day to wrap up an unforgettable experience 💛

Campers painted from the heart, created powerful dream catchers, and enjoyed lots of hands-on fun with crafts and yummy pizza from Car-E-It 🍕

We closed the day, and the camp, with a peaceful butterfly release, sending love and memories into the sky 🦋

To our incredible campers: your strength, stories, and smiles inspired us all.

THANK YOU to the amazing volunteers from Putnam County Hospice and the community for taking to time help us with camp!

See ya next year! 💜

Grief Camp Day 1: Connection, Creativity, and Courage

Day 1 of grief camp is in the books—and what a beautiful, meaningful day it was. We had a full camp, full hearts, and powerful moments of connection.

We started by creating our Heart Tree, where each camper added a piece of their story, honoring the people and pets they carry in their hearts.

During the String Game, campers saw how we’re all connected through our experiences, whether different or similar, and how we are stronger together.

Arts and crafts brought creativity and expression, giving kids a chance to process feelings in colorful, hands-on ways.

A highlight of the day was Challenged Champions, where campers rode horses, finger painted on them, and learned how much care, patience, and gentleness goes into working with animals. It was a powerful mix of fun, trust-building, and comfort.

And a very special thank you to Damascus the comfort dog, who brought calm, kindness, and a lot of tail wags. The kids (and adults!) were so grateful for his presence.

We’re so proud of our campers already! Stay tuned for Day 2!

Caring for the Whole Journey
That’s been our heartbeat since 1966.
From the first home-health visit to today’s hospice, palliative, and private-pay care, we’ve grown with one goal: to serve every neighbor with excellence, compassion, and hope.
Feel free to share a memory of how Putnam County HomeCare & Hospice has touched your family.
Thank you for helping us stay county-owned (the only county-owned agency in Ohio), community-rooted, and award-winning. Here’s to the next chapter together!

✨ Please help us congratulate Heather Weller, LPN, on becoming Wound Care Certified (WCC®) through the National Alliance of Wound Care and Ostomy! Her dedication to growing her skills means even better care for our patients and families. We’re so proud of her hard work and commitment to excellence! 💜

We asked Heather a few questions:

What inspired you to pursue this certification?
'I was inspired to pursue wound care certification because I've seen the impact and how life-altering wounds can be for patients. I had a desire to do more. I feel like this certification gives me the ability to make a positive impact in my patients' lives and outcomes.'

How have you used this certification?
'The training that I received has already helped me understand some of our current patients and their wounds on a deeper level. I feel like I get to use the information daily to advocate for my patients and to improve their care. As a home health nurse, I get to see, recognize, and report changes in wounds to the physicians quicker than if a patient would have to wait for their next appointment, which can improve their healing time.'
