Grateful for another trip around the sun. Some days I feel my age more than others but regardless of how I feel, I’m always grateful for the life I was given.

Thank you to everybody that called, messaged or sent something thoughtful. Words cannot express the joy and happiness my family, friends and community bring me.

Life has been wild… was laid off Nov 1st of last year but found a home locally with a manger services team that supports Rural Broadband providers.

26 million Americans still lack basic broadband access! Finding a role with a purpose that aligns with me at my core has been huge so once again I’ve found the mental space to get back to building out my cruddy basement shop.

To be honest it’s been a bit depressing not having 220v nearby in this rental to run my SawStop PCS, Harvey Alpha bandsaw and Harvey Gyro dust collector but I’ve got enough to set up and use my other tools + hand tools to be productive.

I also got into beta program for the new SM2 brushless spindle so BOLO for some stories and candid feedback on my experience with it.

Grateful for the continued support… life can be a rollercoaster at times!

Life has been pretty wild since moving to KC!

1) Left a corporate mega company for an AI native remote SaaS unicorn (loving it)
2) Welcomed our handsome lil nugget Kassius into this world
3) Getting taught life lessons from an almost 3 year old toddler boss 😑🙄
4) Keeping up on all the things in this old rental house 😮‍💨
5) Daily growth becoming a better husband to my amazing wife

I say all this because I finally feel like I’m in the right headspace to start building and sharing projects again.

Before I get to the project sharing, I’ll share the latest tool purchase ETS 125 (corded). This is my 4th Festool Sander but definitely not the last… RO 90 next 👀

I’ve been eyeing this sander for a hot minute mainly for the edge sanding attachment. Festool has a way of making one of the most boring parts of building less awful.

Now I’ve got the RO 150, ETS EC 150, DTS 400 and now this. Decent little arsenal for all my finishing needs 💪🏾

I might be the odd man out but I hate how safe, boring and uninspiring the “modern vibe” diy renovations are.

I’ve been watching on YouTube for years now and Kansas City has a ton of classic homes that could use some TLC. I retain information better when I read and take notes so purchased my first of many Brent Hull books.

When the day comes that we find the perfect affordable home for us, I want to hit the ground running with any renovations but also maintain the classic history of the house.

There’s no place like home!

The Woodard’s have officially arrived in Kansas City (Overland Park to be exact).

It was truly bittersweet leaving Indy but something about Indiana just didn’t feel like home…

Maybe it was needing the Mars Rover to withstand the pothole riddled streets? Maybe it was the mid-bbq (unless was the cook), or maybe it was the sports teams 😝.

Whatever it was, I still made the most out of 15 years in Indiana! I made lasting friendships and memories I’ll cherish forever + I met my wife and welcomed my pride and joy Phoenix Jade into this world in Indy.

Next chapter begins tomorrow… thank you for everything Indiana, I’m beyond grateful ❤️✊🏾

Cleaned out my last storage unit over the weekend. The long and short of it all is we’re moving to Kansas City next week. This move wasn’t expected as we just got to our current dwelling in March of this year 😳.

It’s a bittersweet move but the Woodard’s are excited for our next adventure in Overland Park!

I waited too long to oil my planes and spoke shave with this Jojoba Oil from !!

Not sure what I was thinking 🤪??

The finish I’m getting on white oak is incredible after I spent yesterday morning and afternoon sharpening my plane irons and dialing my no. 5&1/2.

There’s a reason Lie Nielsen has the reputation it does!

Man this 9ft western red cedar table was a doozy! However, my clients reaction was worth all the hours of hard work 💪🏾

Delivered this 9 foot western red cedar trestle style table and benches.

I added a picture of the render to this post to help capture how much detail and planning goes into one off custom pieces.

All the lumber came rough off the saw mill and I milled it all to dimensions. All the joinery is mortise and tenon + the top panels are draw bored bread boards.

Finished with Waterlox marine sealer and satin to ensure it’ll withstand this Indiana weather!

The client was thrilled with how it turned out and insisted I take a picture with the final product.

I’m glad to have some smaller pieces on the docket after this massive project. The space it took up in my shop + wrestling all this lumber through the jointer and planer wore me out!
