What supplies do midwives bring to a home birth?
We have every family purchase a birth kit which contain common disposable items you may need (including what you’d want to have for a Waterbirth!)
We also bring a fully stocked birth bag containing everything we need to serve you and your baby. This includes
*Fetal heart Doppler (to monitor your baby’s heart rate)
*Blood pressure cuff (to check on mama)
*Newborn resuscitation supplies (and we maintain up to date certification in NRP - the newborn resuscitation program)
*Hemorrhage management - we have a kit of items we can use to help stop excessive bleeding at birth.
*Emergency care
*Newborn assessment (including a scale to see what this little one weighs!)
Usually, we get to pack up most of our kit and put it all away without needing to be used. But in case there is more help needed, we have the supplies to manage unexpected events at home.
