Trauma with First Responders and Perinatal care are areas of focus in this practice. Hi there and welcome to my introduction section where I’ll discuss my past, present and future journey within the mental health field. First, I started providing case management services roughly 10 years ago at a facility in Tulsa. This led to seeking a master’s degree in counseling through Oklahoma State Universi

ty. After graduating, I stepped into a different environment that provided ten years of client care, management experience and supervisory opportunities. Let’s skip to the good part! What can I offer you as a client? Well, I have a wealth of approaches that are utilized to give a well-rounded look at therapeutic services. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Narrative therapy, and Solutions Focused therapy are just a few examples of different perspectives on how to treat a person’s needs. A key factor in treating mental health symptoms isn’t necessarily the technique, but more taking into account the whole body system. Appetite, sleep, nutrition and activity levels hold a vital role in our mood and brain’s ability to function properly. May is mental health awareness month! Here are a few quick tips that might help!

⭐️Routine helps our body know what to expect, when things get out of place, try to stick to what you know.
⭐️Utilize an activity or coping strategy even when you don’t want to or have motivation. That is the very time to use them.
⭐️You can cut/add a lot of things but don’t skimp on sleep, movement, appetite/water intake.
⭐️Start small. Small, attainable goals. Walk for 1 minute. Clean the smallest space. Sit outside for 3 minutes.

💚Let’s all try to really prioritize what our bodies need this month! It’s a great time to do so! 💚

I know some of y’all think I’m crazy with things I suggest you do in session. But here’s proof I do them too. Had a couple of sessions back to back and my body is TENSE. So, legs elevated and laying in the floor! Works for me! 💪🫢🙃

I have a lot of you on my heart today as we acknowledge Mother’s Day. Many of you sit in very deep, vulnerable, emotional places related to bonds that were never formed, broken or atypical. Many of you have lost a maternal figure that you yearn to have back. To some, Mother’s Day is a reminder of loss or the desire to be recognized on this day. I know today isn’t easy for you and I hope you can go through the day just focusing on your normal, daily tasks to get you to the next day. If we are lucky, we get a brand new day tomorrow to start and finish with new thoughts, emotions and goals! Hugs if you are struggling today!

I couldn’t let nurse week slip away without some acknowledgment. I know a LOT about nurses. After all, I was raised by one. I see a LOT of you professionally. I know a LOT of you personally. Here’s what I know about a nurse.

-the hardest worker
-the worst patient themselves
-the most caring soul
-will 100% put 10 people in front of their own needs
-will stand on the frontlines despite adversity
-don’t get paid enough
-will advocate like it’s their own family.
-hold their bowels to keep working to help others
-doesn’t eat scheduled meals
-FIERCE (don’t cross em)

That’s just a few. They don’t get enough recognition. They are a first responder but are often left out of the group. Hug your nurse tight because they are the most selfless humans you’ll find. Happy Nurse Week and thank you for your service! ❤️
