Today is the day!!!🥳 52 years ago today Jeanne & Sam Pulford opened The Goat Boy here on Front St. The Goat Boy has endured a lot in its 52 years. The Pulfords established The Goat Boy and built it into a wonderful destination gift shop, they owned it for 20 years. Biba & John Spencer took the reins next for a short period of time, about a year I'm told. Sandy Stiles and Lisa Bodenhorn were the next owners and they both worked their magic to make The Goat Boy a real draw destination. Every owner brought their passion and personality to The Goat Boy, it grew into a wonderful gift shop in Owego. After the fire on Front St. July 1st 2000, Lisa Bodenhorn & Sandy Stiles moved to a new location, the change was difficult and after owning the business for 7 years the ladies decided it was time to find a new owner. A little hand written sign was placed in the store front window that said after 27 years of business The Goat Boy was looking for a new owner or it would close at the end of the year. My friend Kay and I were out shopping during Holiday Showcase and Kay spotted the Lil Sign in the window, she quickly said Lisa you should buy The Goat Boy. Honestly I think I laughed out loud and said sure in my spare time, we proceeded to shop and enjoy the beauty of downtown Owegos Holiday Showcase. To this day Holiday Showcase is my favorite time of the year for the downtown, every shop keeper makes their shop and eatery come alive for the holidays, it's quite Magical! We enjoyed a wonderful lunch and that Lil sign had me thinking, and of course Kay saying you really should buy it Lisa many times as well made me think perhaps I should. I went home and had a family discussion, within a short period of time we were the proud new owners of The Goat Boy! 🥳🎉We learned a lot the 1st few years, we made a few changes and our customers came from all over. We've endured a lot with this Lil Gift Shop, its quite amazing as we approach our 25th year of ownership now. Wow, what a ride we've had, the friendships along the way, helping our community, being a part of this community! ❤️💖❤️
Today we celebrate all that came before us to make it all possible and we especially want to Celebrate our customers, you are the reason we do what we do! We're Open 11-6 Today, I cant wait to see you all! And no there's no Lil sign in the window! 😉🙃☺️😍
