August 31st is International Overdose Awareness Day.
The CDC estimates that 80,000 people in the U.S. lost their lives to overdoses last year. Overdose can affect anyone, and awareness saves lives. 💜

👉 Signs of overdose: slow or no breathing, unconsciousness, pale/blue skin, gurgling or choking sounds.
👉 What to do: call 911 🚑, give naloxone (Narcan) if available, stay with the person until help arrives.

Did you know? 🤔 The red “Rx” symbol comes from the Latin word recipe, which means “take this.” 💊 Back in medieval times, doctors would write “Rx” at the start of prescriptions to tell pharmacists what ingredients to “take” and prepare. Some also believe the symbol traces back to Jupiter’s symbol (♃), thought to bring good health and protection. In othe words: It's a small symbol with a big history! 🩺
