Here is a link to the rushed SB6

This is the first Bill to be heard in Special Sessions 2.

The committee has already approved the bill for a full senate floor hearing

It is a mirror of SB5, which was a mirror of SB3.

This goes against what Office of the Governor Greg Abbott is asking for with H**p.

Summary (2025-08-15) Relating to the regulation of certain products derived from h**p, including consumable h**p products and the h**p-derived cannabinoids contained in those products; requiring occupational licenses and registrations; imposing fees; creating criminal offenses; authorizing an admini

Well,
Governor Abbott called another special session today at 1pm.

Immediately the Texas Senate Called a public Hearing on SB6.

SB6 is another mirror of SB3 which the governor Vetoed.

The Public Hearing has already ended and the committee voted in favor of the bill and it is now heading to the Senate Floor for a vote.

This is corruption at its most basic level.

The photo is of the sponsors of the bill. All of the senators need to be voted out of office. This bill go against what the Governor ask for out of this session with h**p. Photos of his proclamation are also included.

Tomorrow morning at 9am the Public Health Committee is meeting to hear public testimony on HB5. A link at the bottom of this post is where you can leave written testimony.

I am not going to be able to make it to the hearing tomorrow so I already submitted my testimony. You may have to utilize a computer, I couldn’t get my phone to load the page.

HB5 is a replica of SB3 that Office of the Governor Greg Abbott previously vetoed, so why the legislators are still pushing an outright ban is baffling.

Please take a few minutes tonight or tomorrow morning and submit a written testimony if you can’t make it to testify in person.

We have to keep the pressure on our representatives. As it stands most of them seem hell bent on ignoring our voices, we are going to have to get louder!

HB 5, the House’s bill for the ban on h**p, will receive a hearing on Wednesday, August 13th. Texas Democrats have yet to report to Austin this Special Session, so most likely this hearing will be cancelled but it is still very important to contact your legislators! We will keep you updated!

If you wish to testify in person or send in a written testimony, click the link below.

“While it’s unlikely that the House will have a quorum in time to actually pass the bill, this hearing is an VERY important opportunity for opponents of prohibition to take a stand for responsible regulations.” - Heather Fazio

Well the State Affairs Committee voted unanimously 10-0 to move SB5 to the full senate for a vote.

At this point public testimony seems to be a formality the legislature is required to provide. However we have seen time and time again that our voices don’t matter to the Senate.
The senate will vote yes on SB5 and send it to the House. Dan Patrick will utilized political blackmail to force votes in the House.

Business as usual here in Texas. I suppose we all need to get ready to flood the Governor with calls to oppose SB5.

Our state's current cannabis laws are unnecessarily complicated, inconsistent, and ineffective. Join me in calling on state lawmakers to legalize possession and establish an effective regulatory infrastructure for Texas business owners to grow, manufacture, and sell safe cannabis products!

I will be in Austin Monday for the open of session. Let’s pray for a positive outcome! ✌🏽

I will be in Austin Monday for the open of session. Let’s pray for a positive outcome! ✌🏽

As we head into this special session, it feels good to have the support of Gov. Abbott and a growing list of lawmakers who, after supporting a ban during the regular session, now support a regulatory approach to h**p policy!

HOWEVER, we are not in a position to sit back and let it play out. Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick and his cohort of prohibitionists are still dedicated to banning all THC products.

Let’s stay focused and engaged!
