ALL ABOUT THE D
(Vitamin D)

50% of the global population is deficient
35% of Americans are deficient

Vitamin D is a vital nutrient mainly needed for calcium absorption, but it plays such a huge role in so many of the body’s processes that it functions more like a hormone.

Remember the endocrine system is an intricate network of glands and organs that coordinate everything from metabolism, immunity, gut health, energy and mood to reproduction and blood pressure.

FUN FACTS
💡 Vitamin D, also known as the Sunshine Vitamin, is primarily synthesized from the body’s cholesterol when UV rays hit the skin.

💡 Low vitamin D levels inhibit with your body’s production of leptin, the hormone that tells you you’re full, so you’re likely to feel hungry all the time if deficient.

💡Vitamin D plays a role in the production of serotonin; sufficient levels help regulate mood.

💡 Vitamin D supplementation may help reduce high estrogen levels within the body and help regulate female testosterone levels.

💡 Cruciferous vegetables rich in sulfur help your body synthesize vitamin D.

💡 Give your mushrooms a little sunbath before cooking and you increase the vitamin D by up to 10x!

💡 Infants need 400IU of vitamin D per day. Ages 1-70 need 600IU per day.
