HEARTbeat At 22 ANNUAL LUNCHEON: A BIG Thank You!
What an exciting afternoon we had at the HEARTbeat At 22 luncheon benefitting Mama’s House on January 17 at the Renaissance Indian Wells Resort and Spa. The ballroom was full of women and men looking forward to guest speaker, Kevin Sorbo. Kevin had graciously stayed in the lobby during registration, greeting people and posing for photos. The atmosphere was definitely festive, and the anticipation built as Jan Lupia, shared the tremendous strides that have taken place at Mama’s House in less than two years. She took great pleasure in introducing Kevin to the attendees and they displayed great pleasure in welcoming him.
No one was disappointed! Kevin wowed us with his powerful testimony of suffering three strokes and the battle to regain his life. He gave us an honest account of celebrity, personal tragedy and the power of letting go. He gave time for audience questions and then retreated to the lobby to sign his memoir “True Strength: My Journey from Hercules to Mere Mortal and How Dying Saved My Life”. His book sold out in minutes though it is available on Amazon.com and a wonderful read.
One of the highlights of the luncheon was hearing from past resident Heather who shared what Mama’s House had done for her, the greatest of which was helping her find the courage to carry her baby and not terminate the pregnancy. Her precious son Jayden was close by, along with past resident Destiny and her handsome boy Eli, to everyone’s delight.
Another highlight was the fast paced auction of some high-end items. The bidding was brisk and the bidders were generous. A big surprise was a last minute request for people to donate $3,000 each so a much needed van could be purchased for Mama’s House. Instantly we had eleven people stand up and we had enough money for a van! Everyone at Mama’s House is overwhelmed by the generosity of our donors. A BIG thank you to everyone who participated!
The day was a great success: people had fun, some reacquainted themselves with friends they hadn’t seen in a while, new friends were made, lunch was great and our speaker was very inspiring. I left feeling really good about spending my time and money with a ministry like Mama’s House. Kevin really emphasized how important our time and money are in saving babies lives and mothers from years of tragedy and heartache. What a privilege to be associated with Mama’s House and HEARTbeat At 22.
