Tonight we had a team meeting.
Most people dread them. We look forward to them.

This didn’t happen by accident.

It’s easy to think team culture is just “good people” or luck…
but it’s built. Intentionally. Over time.

The right hires.
Clear expectations.
Shared values.
Protecting the environment you’re creating.

What you don’t see in these clips is the years of learning, refining, and sometimes getting it wrong…so we could get this right.

And when you do?

Team meetings feel like this.
People stay because they want to.
Your clients feel it the second they walk in.

Hallelujah.

People often ask me all the time how I “do it all”

Seeing clients
Running two businesses
Teaching
Leading teams
Being a mom and a wife

And the truth is…..I don’t.

I used to try. And that’s exactly what led to burnout.

I thought I needed:
• the perfect website
• all the marketing strategies
• constant output
• everything running at once
• a full client load

But businesses don’t grow because we do everything.

They grow because we focus on what actually matters and move one step at a time.

Lately that’s looked like:
✨ prioritizing fitness
✨ lightening my load
✨ doing less so I can do more
✨ refining my websites + SEO
✨ simplifying instead of overcomplicating
✨ building intentionally instead of reactively

If you’re feeling overwhelmed in your business, it’s probably not because you’re doing too little…

It’s because you’re trying to do too much.

You don’t need everything.
You need less…done better 🔥

You know exactly who this client is.

Smaller frame, high pressure demand…and no matter how skilled you are with your hands, it can feel like you’re either maxed out or getting too close to working unsafely 😅

This is where barefoot massage really shines.

When it’s done well:
• The soft surface of the foot allows you to move over bony structures more comfortably
• The broad contact distributes pressure instead of digging
• You can deliver the depth they’re asking for without sacrificing your body
• Their nervous system registers the deep sensory input they crave

It’s a win for them… and a huge win for you.

If you’ve been curious about barefoot work (or wondering if it’s actually practical in real sessions), our Intro classes are designed to give you a solid, usable foundation right away.

I’ll drop upcoming class dates below 👇

There’s a point where running your practice starts to feel different.

Not just busy. Not just tired. More like…you’re spending so much time trying to hold everything together that you can’t really keep up, let alone grow it anymore.

For me, hiring was never about wanting a bigger team just to have one. It was about realizing there were clients we couldn’t serve, opportunities we couldn’t take, and eventually, parts of the business I loved that I no longer had time for.

The tricky part is that hiring too early can create a mess, but waiting too long can keep you stuck.

If you’ve been wondering whether it’s “time,” maybe this is your sign to start thinking about it a little differently.

Which slide hit home most?

If hiring has been on your mind lately, comment “guide” and I’ll send you the details for my Solo to Employer guide to save you a lot of time, energy, and frustration.

For a long time, “advanced” barefoot massage has been defined by how many feet are used.

But more feet doesn’t automatically mean more skill.

The best therapists are not just doing bigger, harder, or more impressive-looking work. They’re thinking critically. They’re choosing the right tool for the body in front of them. They understand movement, precision, nervous system regulation, and therapist longevity.

Sometimes that means two feet.

Sometimes it means one.

These clips are from the new Barefoot Focus Series classes because we believe advanced work is bigger than a hierarchy of techniques.

It’s about:
• understanding why
• creating more change with less force
• working smarter, not just harder
• building a practice that is effective and sustainable

Advanced ≠ two-footed.

It’s intention. It’s precision. It’s knowing what the body actually needs.

I love working with pro athletes, and recently had an IFBB bodybuilder come in who was new to me.

She told me she was “used to massage being painful… but worth it.”

I let her know she might feel differently after experiencing this style of bodywork.

About 10 minutes in, she looked at me in total disbelief…
“This is SO effective… and it feels amazing.”

She didn’t know that was possible.

I hear this all the time from high-level athletes. They’re used to grit and grind work, but when you combine depth with intention and flow, it hits differently.

Every pro I’ve worked with ends up loving barefoot massage.

If you want to learn how to do this kind of work, check out our upcoming classes.

We just released new advanced options for those with prior training: now open in FL and MI..but I still wouldn’t snooze on our Intro classes because they are packed full practical application that make barefoot life so much sweeter 🤌🏼

Your first class is never just about teaching.

It’s about how you handle the unexpected.

Mary stepped into her first class in Minnesota and got hit with everything—weather, travel disruptions, a sick student…

…and didn’t miss a beat.

She pivoted, stayed grounded, and showed up for her students the entire way through.

This is what it looks like to lead well.
Proud to have her teaching under The LMT Refinery.

Most massage therapists think hiring will solve their burnout.

Sometimes it does.
Sometimes it makes things much more complicated.

If you’re fully booked and wondering whether bringing on another therapist is the next step, this guide walks through the realities of hiring in our industry so you can make a smart decision before you commit.

Clear. Honest. Practical.

Who is The LMT Refinery?

We are a collective of therapists and educators who believe continuing education should shape the way you think (not just add techniques to your toolbox.)

We exist for the LMT who wants depth.
For the therapist who asks why.
For the practitioner who cares about sustainability, clinical reasoning, and long-term growth.

Barefoot massage.
Clinical therapeutics.
Professional excellence.

Florida is our innovation lab, where ideas are built, tested, and refined.
From there, our barefoot hubs in Minnesota, Michigan, and Alaska carry the work forward.

We’re building more than classes.
We’re building pathways.
We’re building leaders.
We’re building a profession we’re proud to stand in.

If you’re here to refine your craft, your thinking, and your impact…

Welcome.

Growth is intentional.

Barefoot work is evolving…and this is where it gets clinical.

Active Ashi integrates foot-applied pressure with controlled client movement to improve tissue responsiveness, joint mechanics, and neuromuscular engagement. Think ankle CARS under load. Pin-and-stretch with precision. Strategic force, not just depth.

This is barefoot work for therapists who treat dysfunction, not just tension.

As the first class in our new Barefoot Focused Series, Active Ashi is designed for experienced barefoot therapists ready to expand their clinical toolbox…especially those working with athletes, active clients, and chronic pain patterns.

Welcome to The LMT Refinery teaching collective, Mary!

This weekend in Duluth, Mary completed her Barefoot Massage Instructor Training alongside an incredible group of massage therapists here in Minnesota.

Fun fact: Minnesota is currently an unlicensed state, meaning therapists aren’t required to complete continuing education. But that didn’t stop this amazing group from showing up with passion, professionalism, and a drive to elevate the industry.

Mary is leading the way toward higher standards in her community and will be bringing high-quality barefoot massage education to therapists who care deeply about their craft.

We’re so honored to have a therapist (and human) of her caliber on The LMT Refinery team. Her first solo class launches March 2026.

Congratulations Mary 💛

…and new barefoot grads: Olivia, Teri, LauraKate, and Christy, you all are a class to remember 🫶🏼
