Been told you’re bone-on-bone and need a knee replacement?
That’s what many of my patients hear before they come here.

Here’s what I tell patients every week:
“Bone on bone” doesn’t always mean
you need surgery right now.
It means the joint is wearing down —
but we still have options to improve function and reduce pain.

First, we look at mechanics.
If the knee is tracking wrong, or the hips and spine aren’t moving right,
the knee keeps getting crushed with every step.

Second, we work on reducing inflammation
and improving joint motion and stability.

Third, we use non-surgical knee treatments
to help many patients walk, stand, and sleep better
without rushing into surgery.

Surgery may be needed for a few patients, but many times conservative treatment helps enough that most patients end up canceling their surgery.

I’ve seen many people delay or avoid knee replacement for years.

If you’ve been told surgery is your only option —
get another opinion first.

Pain medications can help reduce symptoms, but they don’t correct the underlying mechanical problems that often cause pain in the first place.

Many cases of back pain, neck pain, headaches, and joint pain are due to restricted motion, poor alignment, and stress on the nervous system. When mechanics aren’t corrected, the pain often keeps returning.

Dr. Scott Stiffey explains why correcting function and movement is key to long-term relief.

Stress and anxiety don’t just live in your mind — they live in your nervous system.

Your body has two major modes: fight-or-flight (stress mode) and parasympathetic (rest and healing mode). Many people today are stuck in constant stress mode, which can lead to anxiety, tension, poor sleep, and chronic pain.

Learning how to calm and regulate the nervous system is one of the most important steps to improving overall health.

Dr. Scott Stiffey explains how stress affects the nervous system and what you can do to help your body shift into healing mode.

Movement is medicine — especially walking.

One of the biggest mistakes people make when they’re in pain is completely stopping movement. When joints and muscles stop moving, they become tighter, weaker, and more inflamed.

In many cases, gentle, controlled movement and walking can actually help the body heal by improving circulation, reducing inflammation, and restoring normal function.

Dr. Scott Stiffey explains why smart movement is critical for recovery and long-term health.

Most tension headaches don’t actually start in the head — they start in the neck and spine.

When the upper cervical spine becomes tight, inflamed, or restricted, it can irritate nerves that travel into the head and trigger recurring headaches.

If you’re constantly reaching for medication but your headaches keep coming back, the real problem may be spinal tension.

Dr. Scott Stiffey explains what causes tension headaches and how to address the root cause.
