Little gestures from these little ones to communicate!

Baby Gesture Milestones 👶✨

Before babies can speak, they communicate through gestures. These small movements are big developmental wins!

Around 9–12 months, many babies start clapping, waving, raising their arms, and even blowing kisses.

By 12–15 months, gestures like high fives and pointing begin to appear — pointing is especially important because it shows growing communication and understanding.

Between 13–18 months, toddlers often start shaking their head “no” and nodding “yes,” showing they understand meaning and can express choices.

Every baby develops at their own pace, but gestures are a beautiful sign that language and social skills are growing. 💛

Simple and easy make at home fine motor activities using ordinary household items.

-use an old deli container and punch holes in the lid. Get some large Pom-poms and let them push them in the holes to promote using an isolated finger.

-glue assorted zippers on a large cardboard display board or large piece of cardboard from a box for zipper play! You can add large strips of Velcro for a variety of play on the board. Draw arrows on the side of zipper going up on one side and down on the other to teach “up” and “down”

-get a small set of pinchers (veggie tray size) and place puffs or goldfish crackers in a small muffin tin to pick up fir eye-hand control and finger pinch

-tape gift bows to thier tray to pull off!

-tape the top of a small box and cut holes for popsicle sticks to go through. You can also use a clean drink cup from your local convenience store to push the sticks into the “x” opening on the lid!

-place whip topping in a bag with sprinkles and close tight. Let those little hands squish those sprinkles. If the bag pops, it’s all edible and safe!

-place blocks (duplo, wooden, plastic) into a large bowl. Give your child a large spoon to scoop into an empty bowl, basket, or box.

Safe sleep basics for those babies. When placing them down in the crib, rotate the end you place the head in the crib. If their head is placed to the left side of the bed, place it to the right the next time to promote turning their head both ways. Use the same idea when placing them under an activity bar. This way they are turning their head to look both ways at the toys.

Safe sleep basics for babies:
Safe sleep saves lives 💛 Simple habits at bedtime help protect your baby and give parents peace of mind.
