Alpha Gal Syndrome is a serious allergic condition that stems from the bite of a lone star tick. The allergic reaction occurs when a person is bitten by a lone star tick and it injects an enzyme from its saliva into your bloodstream, resulting in an immune response.

The side effects can range from vomiting or anaphylaxis 2-6 hours after eating mammal products ( meat or dairy products) and may last for a lifetime.
