Stanford Health Justice Coalition

Stanford Health Justice Coalition We affirm the right of all patients to access healthcare resources, regardless of race, gender identity, socioeconomic status, faith, and sexual orientation.

Inspired by the national movement, the Stanford Health Justice Coalition is a student group at the Stanford School of Medicine advocating for patients at risk of losing access to healthcare. We seek to advocate for our future patients, raise awareness of disparities in healthcare, and build a community of students dedicated to supporting the right to access healthcare. Our current initiatives include advocating against the repeal of the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) without adequate replacement that protects access to healthcare and patients' rights, as well as advocating against the defunding of Planned Parenthood.

Our Story

Inspired by the #ProtectOurPatients national movement, the Stanford Health Justice Coalition is a student group at the Stanford School of Medicine dedicated to health justice advocacy. As future physicians, we affirm the right of all patients to access healthcare, regardless of race, gender identity, socioeconomic status, faith, and sexual orientation. We seek to advocate for our future patients, raise awareness of disparities in healthcare, and build a community of students dedicated to promoting health justice.

We have hosted annual community forums, teach-ins, phone banks, and letter writing campaigns. We are building a community of future health professionals dedicated to promoting health justice, working with faculty and supporting student-driven initiatives. Our efforts include advocating against attempts to repeal the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare), advocating for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients, promoting reproductive rights, and most recently, raising awareness of gun violence.

We welcome anyone who wishes to collaborate with us to reach out.
