UPDATE:

She got outside today for the first time in a month. I actually saw her smile and she laughed a little.

She has had some minor setbacks so this really lifted her spirits and she has been slowly but surely improving. Thank you for the continued prayers!

Awesome fantastic news! Mom got up and walked today with some assistance from nurses and she did very well. This was her first time out of bed in 10 days. She is being moved to the minor ICU area versus the major ICU area, which is good news. She is able to eat solid food like pudding consistency. SHe is able to eat ice chips, which she is very happy about. The doctor says she's making excellent progress. And it looks like she will be transitioned to Stanford housing after she is discharged from the hospital. Which Kaiser will reimburse her for or pay for I'm not sure about that. But today was a very good day and she sounded in wonderful spirits. Love you guys thought I should share the good news.

My momma has made incredible progress in her recovery, and it's truly awe-inspiring. Leaving her yesterday was tough, but as I hugged her goodbye, I reassured her to call me anytime, even if just to hear my voice or chat, because conversations are still a challenge for her. I yearned to snuggle up beside her and shower her with love. She's the epitome of strength and resilience, and as I left, she flashed her gentle smile and drifted off to sleep peacefully. At one point, she asked if this was all real, and I confessed that I'm still in shock, but it feels like a dream. I also realized she's had less time to process everything than I have. She's a remarkable woman, and I love and admire her with all my heart. I know she'll make the most of her new healthy lungs and cherish every breath she takes. Thank you for all your prayers and support. ❤️❤️‍🩹

Good morning, just got update from Robert, mom still has breathing tube in due to so much fluid in her body that causes pressure on the lungs, she has been on a diuretic to get some of the excess fluid out of her. No more sedation and still responding to people. Progress is slow but good. Love you all! Thank you for the continued prayers! 🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹

I heard from Robert about 45 minutes ago. They are easing her off the sedative. She still has the breathing tube in but the plan is to get it out this afternoon.
Robert said that she is awake more often and asked for the TV to be turned on. No more soft restraints, and when Robert is asleep, mom will wake him up by banging on the side of the bed. Great news!!! Love you!

I just spoke with my Mom's nurse. They are keeping her on the breathing tube and light sedation for one more day. She has a lot of fluid buildup around her lungs and they have her on a diuretic to drain some of the excess fluid. The breathing tube needs to stay in because the excess fluid can make the lungs work harder. She is stable and comfortable at the moment and has been all night. Robert should be there in a couple of hours and I will try and call him around then to see how she is doing. Love you all!

3/8/26 update - ❤️ I am sorry everyon that this post came a little late but Robert and I are on our way home. Mom is in her ICU room, doing well, she is intubated and sedated. She did not know we were there, but we did go into her room and told her we loved her and touched her hands to let her know we were there. We left her in good hands with the Stanford team and felt comfortable leaving her with them, unlike Kaiser. Robert and I are going back tomorrow after some sleep and a shower. They are going to take her off the sedation and wean her off the breathing tube starting tomorrow. But the best thing ever, that made me cry, was to see her chest raise up and down with little to know effort, like nothing ever happened. I will definitely keep everyone updated tomorrow when we go for a visit first thing in the morning. For going through an 8 hour major surgery, she looks wonderful with all of her 100s of tubes and Hooke up to several machines each doing something different. She a team of nurses and doctors looking after tonight that are absolutely amazing. She is very popular in the unit right now because a double lung transplant patient is not very common, I don't even have to say her name and they knew who and where she was in the unit. God has worked the biggest most precious miracle of all and has angels watching out for her. We couldn't be more blessed as a family and I know I will be thanking our Lord for performing the best miracle of all and sending us the best people to watch out for her. I love you all so much! ❤️❤️❤️🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Well, all of you will probably be mad at me and/or mom. But mom wanted me to wait to tell everyone. She got another call from Stanford saying they had found another lung from a different donor. So we headed back to Stanford at about 6:30 pm. This time, it's really happening. She wanted me to wait until they were wheeling her back to the OR. That just happened. All of the testing has been done and everything is a go!!

Yes, this is it!! The surgery will take about 6-8 hrs or we have heard longer. I will keep everyone as updated as possible. We love you all!! Get all your prayer warriors going. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹🫁🫁🫁🫁🫁🫁
