The Healthy Group Home Project is dedicated to preparing young men for life by focusing on fitness, healthy lifestyle, outdoor adventure, mentorship, and practical skills.

We currently serve 15 boys, ages 13 to 18, helping them grow into capable, compassionate, and productive members of society.

Our philosophy is simple: when young men are equipped with the tools to succeed, the whole community benefits. To truly achieve this, the HGHP must be ingratiated with and insulated by the community itself—because only with strong community involvement can these boys become strong men.

We’re inviting local businesses to get involved—not through money, but through time and expertise. From teaching trades and professional skills to mentoring in leadership and responsibility, your impact will last long after a workshop or visit.

As I look back on my 10+ years in the fire service, I do so with a full heart.

It wasn’t the 30-year career I once imagined—but service isn’t measured in time. It’s measured in impact.

I witnessed life begin and life slip away. And I had the honor of being there for people in their most vulnerable moments. That is a privilege I will carry with me forever.

But my time in the job has come to an end.

Not by choice. By circumstance.

And while my path led me out, I don’t believe it has to be this way for others. With the right support, real leadership, and access to proper care, more of our brothers and sisters can stay in this profession—and stay alive.

Right now, there are people in your department quietly suffering and too afraid to ask for help.

How many more have to die—by su***de or silence—before we say enough?

This is a call to do better. To lead with heart. To protect your people like they protect this community.

The culture must change. And that change starts now—with courage, with compassion, and with the will to fight for those still wearing the uniform.
