The temperature is supposed to get near freezing tonight. Below is a message from Bay Alerts. Please share this information if you see someone who needs it.

A warming shelter will open tonight, Jan. 6, at A.D. Harris Learning Village, 819 E. 11th St., Panama City in anticipation of freezing temperatures overnight. The shelter will be open from 6 p.m. up to 11 a.m. each evening this week as necessary. BayWay Transit will provide transportation via Routes 2 and 4.

Just a heads-up about a concerning incident on Middle Beach recently. A group of young individuals (early twenties) was driving in a way that was not just reckless but also outright threatening. Here’s what happened:

• A young woman, possibly Hispanic, was driving a gray Hyundai Elantra. She failed to stop at a crosswalk and came alarmingly close to hitting me.
• Shortly after, two young men in another car pulled up and started yelling at me.
• The woman in the Elantra came back around, stopped, and verbally threatened to “get out of this car and kick [my] ass.” She even tried to spray me with pepper spray.

So, keep an eye out for this woman in the gray Elantra. She seems eager to escalate situations, even with someone like me — a 50-year-old grandma just minding her business.

Stay safe out there, folks! If you see anything similar, please report it.

Due to a water main break, water is out across a large section of PCB. It has been out since at least around 9:30 last night. Let us know what area in PCB you’re in and whether you have water. 💦

Those of you who have lived through hurricanes and the aftermath know how devastating the experience is. They said they pulled the swimmer, believed to be in his early 20′s, out of the water and took him to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Stay alert out there.

*** Public Safety Alert***

This morning, the Panama City Beach Police Department, in cooperation with the Bay County Sheriff's Office, conducted a comprehensive aerial search of our coastline using the Sheriff's Office helicopter. We have identified a notable presence of sharks, specifically bull sharks, near the first sandbar.

As a precaution, we will be flying single red flags and purple flags along our beaches to indicate the presence of dangerous marine life. We urge everyone to use caution when entering the water.

Please remember, this is the sharks' natural habitat. Staying aware and taking the necessary precautions will ensure a safe beach experience for everyone.

WOMAN INJURED IN REPORTED SHARK INCIDENT IN WATERSOUND; DOUBLE RED FLAGS NOW FLYING ON WALTON COUNTY BEACHES IN SURROUNDING AREA

Just after 1:15 pm Walton County Sheriff’s Office and South Walton Fire District responded to a report of a woman being injured by a shark in the water near Watersound Way and Coopersmith Lane.

One patient has been transported by SWFD.

Double red flags are now flying on the beaches in the surrounding area. The Gulf is now closed to the public in Walton County in the localized area of the incident.

We are encouraging beachgoers to be cognizant that lifeguards and beach deputies may be trying keep people out of the water in the immediate area.

As many complain about the added fees. Wicked Wheel and Pineapple Willy’s do not charge any of the tourist fees, credit card fees, entertainment fees, etc.
