These dilation pumpkins are the scariest thing I’ve seen all night. 🎃🙀 🤣

It was set up by midwives at the Royal Oldham Hospital in Lancashire, England as part of a pumpkin decorating competition.

Hello lovely people!
This doula will be taking a break for the the next 9 months to embark on her journey into Massage Therapy School. By the end of my schooling, I will be providing doula and massage services to my clients! ❤🙌
Although I'm taking a break from doula-ing, I will still be hosting Childbirth Education classes.
Keep an eye out for the next one real soon!
Warmly (your doula),
Mycha ❤

Today is National Rainbow Baby Day, a day to acknowledge the child or children born after a baby that has died during pregnancy, birth, or early life. It is a day to honor the baby that brings such joy after the deep grief of loss; and to acknowledge the beauty that we see ever more clearly after enduring such heartbreak.

While we understand that not everyone connects with this term, or has the opportunity to carry a child after a loss, for those who do grow their family after losing a baby, it can be a powerful term and image. For those of you holding your rainbow babies in your arms, we are thinking of you and your tremendous journey. For those of you dreaming of having another child, or dreaming of being ready to try again, we are thinking of you with hope in our hearts.

It is truly a wonderful, beautiful mystery how much love the heart can hold.

Being back in my hometown has really opened my eyes to how much work needs to be done in our birth community. One of the biggest reasons I became a doula was so I could help families find community resources and establish a positive birth presence in the world. That starts HERE.
Families deserve to know all their birth options, you deserve to feel continuously supported and prepared. You deserve to approach birth confidently.
For the next two months (from July 21 - September 21) I will be discounting my Birth Doula services from $779 to $600.
This package includes: 2 prenatal visits, text/ phone support during pregnancy, on call guarantee, labor services, Preparing For Birth Journal, local resource list, and 1 postpartum visit.

I am so excited to be supporting Bay, Walton, and Washington counties! ❤️
Please feel free to call, text, or email me with any questions or concerns.

"What if we held the mother first? • What if we held her so much that she could breathe out those worries—the ones wrapping those tight circles in her mind? • What if we asked her, how are you really doing? • And what if we held space for the answer—whatever it might be? • What if we listened? • What if we gifted her with our own stories; our own truths? • What if she listened? • What if we told her we knew it was hard because we’ve walked her walk? • What if we weren’t so quick to forget? • What if we told her that we get it and that in all of that hard, you are doing so very well? • What if we did that before we held the baby? • And what if, in all of that space, she felt ready for us to hold the baby—because she felt held herself?"

Thank you for such beautiful and wise words 🤎🤎

BRAINS- an acronym to help you make your most informed decision when talking to your provider.
You have the right to informed consent and refusal, these choices you make are never permanent. You can change your mind at any time.
To make sure you are completely informed when speaking to your healthcare provider, remember BRAINS:
B- Benefits: How does this help me and my baby?
R- Risks: How will this affect me and my baby?
A- Alternatives: Do I have other options? What are they?
I- Intuition: Go with your gut. Does something feel off?
N- Nothing: What happens if I do nothing?
S- Space: Time to ponder on the information you have received.

Intrusive Thoughts:
70-100% of women (and their partners) have “intrusive” thoughts surrounding childbirth/the postpartum period.6 These thoughts may include thoughts of infant harm (e.g., dropping the baby or a woman herself harming her baby). These thoughts are unwanted (ego-dystonic) and recognized by the woman as inappropriate and concerning, (which is why these thoughts alone are not cause for alarm).
It is important to note that although obsessions often contain alarming content they do not represent a psychotic process, where mothers are at a higher risk of harming themselves or their infants/children.
Intrusive thoughts are not considered a “disorder.” When symptoms become persistent and are disabling, they are generally thought to be tied to OCD.

Perinatal mood and anxiety disorders are prominent and we need to be aware as a community that people who go through this need support and encouragement to make that CLIMB over the mountain.

Together we can make a difference in perinatal mental health in our community! There is hope, support, and resources for you - so let's climb out of the darkness TOGETHER. If you have any questions please feel free to contact us via Facebook Messenger.

You hear this quote a lot.. and for a good reason too.
The way we approach birth molds the way into parenthood for all expecting families.
Every family should feel love, support, and know their options during birth. A supported mother know their options is more likely to walk away with a positive birth experience then one who felt left in the dark or confused about the situation.
This experience causes a ripple effect that can lead into postpartum.. and maybe even longer.
That's why I like this quote. If we approach childbirth with the mindset that every person deserves peace then maybe we really can reshape the Earth.
