Daily coop cam: Chicks have to stay in the brooder for 8 weeks. By this time they should be fully feathered and be ready to live without a heat source.
I add a clump of grass and dirt to the brooder once a week...they get to scratch around which is a boredom buster and I'm introducing them slowly to the bacteria which they'll be released into. Doing this boosts immunity and introduces them to the acts of foraging and dust bathing....all of which are necessary to survive the free-range life.

There's something growing in there!
Today is day 7 of the 21 day egg hatching process. On day 7 the embryo starts to look like a bird: basic organs and wings have formed. Tomorrow and the days to follow, the feathers and beak will start to form.

I knew it Brenda. It's clear you can't handle the responsibility of being a mother...you already abandoned your children. It's only been 2 days! CPS has taken them away and you will not be getting them back. And you're about to find yourself in government housing with required detox...you have until Saturday to get your affairs in order.

Our eggs? They're laid the same week....even the same DAY you buy them!
These eggs were laid before 9 this morning and they'll be headed to The Ham this afternoon!

These girls are killing me. So...all four of my broody ladies are getting three eggs to sit on. We'll see if they actually want to be mothers or if they just want the welfare check.
My guess is Brenda just wants the check.
