I CANNOT explain how great it feels to get updates from clients about how AMAZING their horses feel post extended stay!

🏡Extended stay is best option for most every scenario I’ve encountered in my handful of years of being a certified practioner.

🙌🏻I plan on being at MSU for MI state finals. 🙌🏻
But here’s the kicker- I will only be there SATURDAY and SUNDAY.
That being said, pre-performance treatments might be hard to fit in for the long go unless you’re later in the draw.

Sometimes my personal horses feel left out when I have clients at the barn…😅🥲

But it makes for a perfect post to mention 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆!

This mare seems to be having a reaction to something she found in the pasture last night. Might be bugs, might be a w**d- we may never know!🤦🏼‍♀️

Making sure my clients leave in as good if not better shape than they came to my barn in is something I take pride in as well! We just so happen to share the same good taste in products as one of the best in the Acuscope business… 💁🏼‍♀️

Taking extended stay horses is much more than daily Acuscope/Myopulse treatments. I’ve said it many times but I’ll say it again. There’s nothing better than knowing your horse, is looking their best. Even if they aren’t quite feeling their best, we can help keep them looking their best. “Look good, feel good” is what we strive for. Maintaining how they arrive is something I will take pride in. If they are braided and bathed 1x a week at home, they’ll get it here. If they show up from the surgery barn in a layer of shaving dust with some old sweat from sweating out meds, that will be the first thing we address! Complete Equine Performance makes it that much easier with their Kool & Clean wash, followed by their show stopper spray. It leaves them so soft and smelling great! 🤩 I am not sponsored by these products. I’m a firm believer they belong in everyone’s barn 💯

Injured horses- we can’t live with or without them and I’ll say that they’re designed to die…

Whether it’s a performance injury or the way they’re made or something dumb they decided to do on their own time. We have to address it. I personally get a lot of post op cases and open wounds. Open wounds are much easier to rehab in my opinion. You can visually see the progress and with it being visual, it answers most questions. The question in question.

💥How many treatments will it take? 💥

If your horse has been diagnosed by a vet to have 3-6months time off, or what ever length of time, I will not challenge the vet’s recommendation. Especially on cases that have been found per a MRI. These cases are the hardest because you can’t visually watch the progression. My acuscope helps follow the progression with my digital readings. But even then when the body starts reading great, that doesn’t mean we are healed. I mean maybe in some cases with vet confirmation but realistically, no. It means that we have addressed the cellular function and have the body addressing the injury accordingly. Reducing inflammation ALWAYS helps the body heal better and in some cases faster. Back to the simple question, I don’t know how many treatments it’s going to take. We can certainly challenge your vet’s recommendation and treat them daily, but that’s where they come to stay with me and they’re still going for a recheck. I can certainly come 1-2x a week, but I’m not guaranteeing that it’ll make or break your injury or the condition of said horse.

We as technicians can only do so much with what is presented. Even best case scenario and with a bottomless check book, it all comes down to how the horse wants to heal. Sorry to say. No one has a magic 🪄 wand.

🚩My horses hind end is weak🚩

This is something I hear weekly. The first thing I do is look at muscle tone. Particularly Biceps and Gaskin muscles. Those two alone tell a big part of your exercise routine. Next I’ll palpate and if the SI is sore, and the hamstrings are “stingy” it tells me all I need to know. Sometimes there are cases that have greater issues than just weakness or muscle soreness. But back to my evaluations. It will be followed by “Do you back your horse up?” 9/10 tell me no. Which judging by the muscle tone I already know the answer. These horses have hardly any gaskin muscle let alone definition and their Bicep in the forearm will be huge. This tells me they pull with their front end and don’t drive with their hind end. When I go through the motions I hear that their stifles have been chronically sore and their hamstrings are very tight. Now don’t come at me for training. If your horse doesn’t back up when you’re on them, do it on the ground. Back them up from their stall to your tack room, SAFELY! On them or on the ground, use your own feel to judge when and how many steps they can handle. Weak horses need a gradual build up. Head level with their top line or a touch lower Is Ideal.

Their gaskins are their four wheel drive. I often say when looking to buy a horse, you can see just by looking at their gaskins if this horses drags their a$$ or pulls with their front. Yes there are winners that have minimal muscle tone in their gaskins. I’m aware.

Forward motion plays a huge role in many disciplines. My calf horses still have to have forward motion when stoping. But they’re far from weak in the hind end. Same with the reining cowhorses. So why is it lacking in the barrel horses? Everyone has their own winning program, im not here to tell you how to do your job. But strengthening the hind end never slowed them down 💯

Going into a season of hauling the roads with an OPEN horse means your equine athlete is ready to attack whatever physical hurdle is thrown at it!

Sometimes horses (not all) will exhibit these black marks on the plates after treatments.

🚫𝗡𝗢- it’s 𝗡𝗢𝗧 𝗗𝗜𝗥𝗧!🚫

These black marks are TOXINS that have been pulled out of the treated area through the plates that have been taped to their skin.
We know these are toxins and not just dirt because when we wipe off our plates these black marks stay.😉

No, we don’t need to 👀SEE👀 the magic to know it’s doing just what it should- but it does make us feel good when we get a little 🍭treat🍭 like this here and there!
