What a nice time networking today! I’m so happy and grateful to have been able to meet up with others who are serving our seniors and in such a beautiful community who has been serving the area for over 100 years! Amazing!

Our family experienced a scary event when our dear grandfather, who was suffering from Alzheimer's Disease in its early stages, decided to drive on his own on Christmas Eve. He was so excited to bring his famous cheesecake to the family dinner. Even though we told him we will pick him up soon, his memory didn't serve him that day. He departed the house and we could not find him all Christmas eve. When the snow began to fall, we were terrified about what might have happened to him. When we got the call that he was found driving in the wrong direction down a main highway nearly half the state away, we didn't know whether to be relieved or more concerned.
The thing is, though, we had the signs right in front of us. Earlier in the month he had hit a mirror off a parked car while passing it on the road. When we confronted him about the incident, he said that kids in the neighborhood hit his mirror.
We are thankful that he never hurt himself or anyone else. We would never want our beloved, kind grandfather to have hurt anyone, even unknowingly. This program is a blessing to our seniors and their families!

One of the important topics we discussed was “Hoarding: A Complex Issue.” Hoarding can significantly impact the quality of life and safety of our seniors.
