My second race is in the books. With Riggins and Rory as my training partners I’m starting to figure out this racing thing. I had some speedy miles and some I needed an extra push, but we made it across the finish line in a respectable time!

The rest of this week has been spent visiting with our communities (the best way to recover in my opinion).

Race season is finally here! Yesterday was my first race, and it couldn’t have gone better. The course in Idaho Springs was no joke, but with the support of some experienced racers we kept a steady pace finished in the middle of the pack!

I’ve still got a few things to work on (those painted lines on the road are suspicious, and crowds take some getting used to), but not too shabby for a rookie, right?

It’s been a busy few weeks, so let’s get caught up. To start, we welcomed 5 new ducks to the farm! I’m not so sure about them yet, but they’re pretty cute.

Second - turns out Flower, isn’t as perfect as she pretends to be. During one of our sessions she got out and dodged all efforts to be caught; who knew she could be naughty!

On the other hand, I have been nothing but perfect! Last weekend we went to Georgetown for my first training run in the mountains. The trail was tough and the weather didn’t cooperate, but I handled it all like a pro. Now we countdown to my first race of the season!

We took advantage of the warm weather this weekend and spent time outside listening to stories. Helping others build confidence is one of my favorite parts of the job.
