Bereaved Mother’s Day: May 5, 2024 🌻

Wishing a gentle Bereaved Mother’s Day to everyone holding children in their hearts 🤎

Some ways to honor your motherhood today:
* Write a letter/note to your child.
* Say your child’s name aloud.
* Be around loved ones who understand and are supportive of your journey through grief.
* A simple act of memorial.
* Schedule a meeting with your therapist beforehand.
It is most important that you listen to your body and take things slow for the early half of May (or even the whole May if you need!)

For all the grieving mother’s I know personally, you are in my heart today and always 🫶🏾 I’m here for you.

Today’s Doula Meetup was such a wonderful time! It was so amazing to share space and stories with these lovely ladies. It was a diverse group, which I loved so much! Really gave everyone the opportunity to learn from someone else 🤎

Calling all the doulas… experienced doulas, doulas in training, and even the aspiring doulas!! I am hosting my very first Doula Meetup 🤎

I want to create a space for us to connect and continue to build community together! I want us to be able to ask questions and share resources with one another, or just take a pause from the sometimes chaotic world of birth work.

So no matter if you are an experienced doula, just starting out in your journey or planning to start your training soon, come down to meet a new doula or 2 on Saturday May 4th from 12-4pm.

First birth of the year 🤎✨

Yesterday around 8pm I had a consultation for a family due 2/23, little did I know when I called mom she would already be at the hospital at 4cm! We spoke for a little on the phone, and I was at St. Joseph’s hospital within an hour.

I am so honored to have been asked to support this family on such sort notice and I cannot wait to continue working with them postpartum 🤎

When is the best time to call your birth doula when you are going into labor? A few tips you can go off..

✨If you notice low or abnormal fetal movement. If you notice a decrease or change in consistency of your baby’s movements, that is a good time to call your doula. It may not result in birth happening immediately, but it’s good to keep your doula up to date!
✨If your water breaks. Once your water breaks labor could start immediately or still take a few hours, but calling your doula when your water breaks is always a good call. Then we know a baby is on their way soon!
✨Once your contractions are intense and close together. If you did not call your doula to be there with you during early labor, you should start making the call once your contractions are no longer tolerable and getting close together. You and your doula may discuss the 5-1-1 rule during pregnancy, and that would be a great time to call your doula and start transitioning to your birthing facility.

Also remember, it is always ok to call your doula too early/too much rather than too late. The more you communicate with your doula throughout your pregnancy the more time you give for a good relationship to truly foster!
