Empower Lincoln with a Service Dog, Parma, OH (2026)

In celebration of National Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day (not really, more of a coincidence) we are happy to announce that as of 3PM today everything in terms of placement and paper work etc on our end has been fully finalized with 4 Paws! From this point, we are on a 6-9 month waiting period which places us exactly where they told us, September-December of 2026.

We have confirmed that the breed of dog will officially be a Golden Retriever or Lab as expected. The dog at this point will have completed its public training period and is now moving into Task-Specific training specifically for Lincoln.

Over the next few months, we will need to dress Lincoln in plain white cotton T-Shirts. After each seizure he has, we will need to remove, bag, and send to 4 Paws as the dog will utilize this specific scent as an association with seizures to provide us with a Bark Alert. This will be extremely in the middle of the night, when he has most of his seizures.

We are extremely excited to be moving closer to bringing our dog home and as always extremely thankful for everyone that has been a part of this journey. As we get closer I’m sure that more updates will become more frequent. After the dog is home this will likely become a Lincoln and dog photo landing place! Thank you all again!

We are just 10 days out from our Mini Session event with Allison Hopkins Photography! We still have plenty of time slots available! We would love to fill them all up!

Photos will be at Gorge Metropark (Google map link below) in the National Park on Sunday Feb 16th from 12-3. Please contact Hannah Cleary for scheduling your time slot! Allison’s full sessions are usually 60 minutes and run about $650, so this is is approximately a $100 value session!

Perfect opportunity for a post Valentine’s Day couples portrait, family photos, or any other type of photo you want!

Everything is official! Lincoln will be receiving his Dog as part of the “Cotten Candy 2026 Class” with 4 Paws For Ability which is expected to be fall of 2026. We are so so greatful and thankful for everyone that donated, shared, supported us through this journey. Our 3-6 month journey of fundraising concluded far sooner than we could have ever imagined! We didn’t even have to make Super Bowl squares!

Just a reminder, we have our Mini Sessions with Allison Hopkins Photography coming up on February 16! Plenty plenty plenty of slots available! This is a great opportunity to get a few family photos, individual portraits, or even some photos of YOUR dog. Allison is hands down the best photographer in Cleveland and will provide you with digital full resolution photos that will have you coming back for more! Any and all donations made through this effort are exclusively to be used for the dog’s care and travel efforts for our class in 2026.

Thank you again, and we will continue with updates through the next year and a half as we get closer and closer to our training classes in fall of 2026.

🌟 Love for Lincoln Mini-Photo Sessions!! 🌟

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who has generously donated so far! We are thrilled to announce that thanks to an anonymous donor who so kindly finished off the remaining balance, we've met our goal for Lincoln's service dog! 🙏 We are beyond grateful for your kindness and support. We do not have a firm training class date, but we have been told they are scheduling into fall of 2026 right now.

However, as we prepare to welcome this amazing dog into our lives, there are some additional costs we need to cover, including travel expenses and fencing for our yard.

We are incredibly lucky to have the talented and gracious Allison Hopkins Photography stepping in to help us raise more funds. She has generously donated her time, skills, and photography expertise to support us in this journey. 📸💕

Join us on February 16th from 12pm to 3pm at Gorge Metro Park (1160 Front St, Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221) for mini photo sessions! Each session will be 10 minutes long, and you'll receive 4-5 professionally edited photos from Allison. All we ask is a minimum $20 donation (but feel free to give more if you’re able! It is all going to a good cause of helping us prepare for Lincoln’s service dog!)

This event is being held as sort of a Valentine’s Day photo session but is open to anyone! Individuals, families, couples, or even your dogs!

We’re so grateful to Allison for making this happen and for everyone who continues to support us along the way. 🙌 Please make sure to arrive early to keep everything running smoothly—Allison has kindly scheduled these sessions, and we want to respect her time. In the event of inclement weather, we will schedule a rain out date.

Boy oh boy. What a night.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. And thank you again. To Rookies Sports Bar & Grill, to all of our amazing donors for baskets, to everyone that donated, and finally to everyone that showed up!

Congratulations to everyone that won baskets, and we hope everyone made it home safe. Get some sleep. We will update again tomorrow. If you have photos, PLEASE POST THEM IN THE COMMENTS !! The attached is pretty much all we have :/

T-Minus 23 Hours until we start!

No basket announcement tonight, just some reminders and heads up. This is a Snow or Shine event! We will be there snow or not. Today has been pretty consistent snow showers but the crews have been working amazingly and keeping main roads cleared. Even now after a large band rolled through Snow Road is anything but Snowy.

So, some important announcements. If you simply Apple/Google Maps "Rookies" it is possible that they take you to the wrong Rookies. There used to be a Rookies near Pearl and Ridge. It is permanently closed. DO NOT go to this one. Our event is being held at **6913 W 130th St** and the Apple Maps name is "Rookies Sports Bar and Grill"

Lincoln will be attending. He will be there for about 30-60 minutes from 7-7:30, maybe 8. Make sure to come early!

Raffle Tickets are 1 ticket for $5 or 3 tickets for $10. These can be purchased either with Cash or Venmo. We will have some people walking around with ticket rolls or come up to the baskets to purchase tickets. We will be announcing the winners around 8:30. YOU MUST BE PRESENT TO WIN (Or give your ticket to someone you trust to give you your basket if you win).

In addition to Raffle baskets, we will have a 50/50 and a "Sideboard". Don't ask me what a sideboard is. But it's something that you can win something or something? These must be purchased with cash as you will receive your prize immediately.

Check In will be at the door. We will have a table with check in where you will give your name, and then you will receive your wrist band. This wristband will give you access to the food and drinks. If someone else purchased your ticket, we may not have your name down, so we made sure to mark down the purchaser of every ticket as well. Do not lose your wristband as you will not be able to get another.

Basket of the day isn’t so much a basket, but an experience that could end up lasting years, like it has for us. Hannah and I are lucky enough to say “let me get the details of OUR photographer” when anyone asked for suggestions on a photographer. Allison Hopkins Photography has been a rockstar for Hannah and I since 2018 when we won an engagement photo giveaway that she did. From there, we have basically been with her yearly (or in some cases even more frequently) for family photo sessions. The page photo for this page is an Allison photo, my (Jacob) profile and banner photo are Allison photos. Anyone reading this has seen her photos at some point or another.

All of this to lead up to a MASSIVE “basket” which is a one hour full portrait session with Allison valued at $600 dollars! There are quite literally no words that we can use to describe how amazing she is with Lincoln, Preston, and the whole family. The session is so professional, but done in such a welcomingly friendly nature that you don’t even realize you’re taking photos. We have nothing but gratitude for Allison for the amazing photos she’s done over the years and the many more she’s sure to take for us, and hopfully for you too!

Below are all photos taken by Allison over the years, starting with our engagement session, and progressing through our most recent session last summer in downtown Cleveland. Another near and dear basket to showcase tonight! One of Lincoln’s favorite things is spicy food. Hannah and I have decent spice tolerances. Lincoln out paces us sometimes, so that alone makes this hot sauce basket special. Then add in the story of Crippling Hot Sauce, and this basket takes the cake. Drew Davis, the founder of Crippling Hot Sauce is like Lincoln, and was born with cerebral palsy. After a high school project got graded low because it was “Unrealistic” Drew said don’t count me out and made it real. He set to work on bringing his project to life, and now operates a hot sauce company with not just amazing hot sauce, but an amazing cause as well. 5% of all proceeds are donated to CP research! Drew graciously donated a bottle of all 5 of his sauces along with a shirt…. And then donated it again, and again. We will have 3 baskets all containing the 5 sauces and a shirt! Please consider buying these sauces as well if that is something you’re interested in! And these sauce names are… pretty comical too!
