Last month, twenty-five dedicated staff members from over 10 schools within Alhambra Unified School District (AUSD) participated in a private Youth Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Training offered by our HCFE trainers.

Hathaway Center for Excellence commends AUSD Assistant Superintendent, Lindsey Ma, for his commitment to prioritizing this vital training as part of the district's professional development. This training equips school staff to feel more prepared to engage with students and connect them with essential mental health services when needed.

We are proud to partner with educational leaders in building a more supportive and responsive environment for students. Hathaway Center for Excellence offers two types of MHFA Trainings, one focused on MHFA for youth and one focused on MHFA for adults. The National Child Traumatic Stress Network(NCTSN) conference recently welcomed insights from two of Hathaway Center for Excellence’s esteemed voices: Alejandra Gagne, LMFT, Implementation Specialist and Eleanor Owen, LCSW, Director of Clinical Training and Implementation.

Invited as panelists, Alejandra and Eleanor shared insights from their experiences related to the recent wildfires, highlighting the fires’ impact on communities and providers. Their session, delivered as a webinar, was attended by over 130 individuals from across the country.

Hathaway Center for Excellence is proud to announce the successful completion of its foundational Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) training series. This comprehensive initiative represents a significant expansion of HCFE's mission, extending vital, evidence-based expertise to mental health professionals beyond traditional agency settings.

Hosted virtually by HCFE and sponsored by the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health, this program, completed in just four months, equipped 395 dedicated individuals (across 12 cohorts in Los Angeles County) with advanced skills, providing 16 hours of training per cohort. Initial participant feedback highlights strong satisfaction, underscoring the effectiveness and relevance of the TF-CBT model presented.

HCFE remains committed to advancing the field through robust training and ongoing consultation, empowering professionals to deliver the highest standard of trauma-informed care.
