I'll be presenting "Crucial Interventions: Balancing Professional Boundaries and Essential Support in Medical Settings" Saturday April 5 at this conference for clinicians and students. There will be others throughout the day. I will outline a case of significant complexity and how to straddle between psychotherapy and medical settings and personnel. If you are interested in attending for CPD credits or general interest, feel free to contact the organizers via the info on the flyer. It's a chill kind of conference - small and intimate at the University in Alhambra.

Hi, there. I am now taking reservations and payments for my Private Practice Seminar. Simply email me at dr.richardlabrie@gmail.com and I'll give you payment options. Here's the flyer!
Trainees and colleagues who have used these basic techniques have moved onto their own practices earning a range of monthly incomes from $10,000 to $20,000, using mostly a private-pay or mixed insurance approach. My own practice, with just me as the clinician, performs at higher numbers. I'll also discuss group practice and trainee approaches. The seminar takes place on zoom on February 22, 2025 from 10am-2pm.

HI, there, I've once again been asked to promote a course, via my face and words, presented on February 1st, 2025 by the Our Institute. Please excuse the face and words.

The importance of mental health services for those with complex medical conditions, while recognized, often takes a back seat in the medical decision-making process. While we are uniquely qualified to add perspectives crucial to patient well-being, providers need to be creative and, at times asserti...

A few months back I presented a Psychology Continuing Education seminar on gun violence. It's now available as a 2 hour online class. And I'm supposed to promote it. So I am. I do not profit from this continuing online version, but I was paid for the original material.

Ask yourself if you’re a manager. Then ask if you’ve received equal training in fair and positive people management equal to the training you received to optimize company workflow and productivity (meaning: money). If these trainings are not equal, ask for an adjustment. This workplace stress data is endlessly pointing to diminished quality of life - unless we change.

A survey from Headspace found that workplace stress has caused 71% of employees to end a relationship, with Gen Xers being most impacted.

Conflict and bad news can overwhelm us to a point at which we experience cognitive dissonance - we can’t stand the internal pressure. We want to then diminish the dissonance. One mistake we often make in attempting this is labeling both sides of a conflict “the same.” This leads to reaching a conclusion of false equivalence - feeling that both sides are equally flawed or morally bad or dangerous. “All politicians are crooks,” etc. This article makes some good points about using discernment to avoid false equivalence. Perhaps discernment - admittedly a more difficult effort to lower dissonance - should be considered more.
