Hey Friends!

I'm still here! ♥️ Many of you were here for when I first started my run blog about 15 years ago and have been with me through being a run coach in Savannah, teaching mom workouts in Santa Cruz and Reno/Tahoe, and of course, being a NBC-HWC!

I haven't been as active on here, but I'm still coaching, just not doing any one-on-ones and fully coaching diabetes prevention programs through a platform / insurance.

It's been really nice, honestly, to focus on that and not have to "market" coaching.

I'm in a great groove with coaching a few cohorts (a handful of hours a week) and couple that with and being a mom to two little kids who are involved in so many things..... It's a great balance!

So I might not be posting here as much as I used to. But please know I am keeping up with my walks, my physical therapy at home and my strength training.

So not goodbye, but thank you ♥️

In Health,

Victoria

I'm here ☺️

I've been doing daily walks and some strength as I can - with a severed finger 🩸🫨

I sliced about 1/3 of my finger off on a rotatory cutter while making a wreath (👋🏻 )and had to go to the ER last week for stitches etc. I get them out this weekend! And hopefully then, I can get back to yoga. I was excited to try out .ca for their infrared restorative class!

On a more important note, I'm thinking of all our friends in Reno/Tahoe being impacted by the Davis Fire. Our old home is in the zone and so many of our friends are evacuated and not knowing the status of their homes, belongings and more. That uncertainty is immense 😞

Mornings lately ✨❤️

I love waking up early and getting in some client emails & touch points plus a workout. It's been a while since the latter.

I used to rise and grind out miles before work 🏃🏻‍♀️
Or teach a spin class.
Or throw around weights (5-15lbers 🙌🏻)

Now that I have a more concrete plan, as in my knee is as good as it's going to get, I feel ready to commit back to my morning workouts in this new phase. Not sure if that makes sense, but the ambiguity of what my recovery was going to look like took a toll on me in regards to workouts aside from my prescribed PT (I give myself an A+ for doing my exercises 3-4x a week for the last almost year!).

While I won't be pounding the pavement running or teaching spin..... I am finding my new way ❤️🙌🏻✨

So anyways 😅 20 min TRX to kick off a busy Tuesday!

Happy short week!

I finally unpacked my TRX and was attempting to do a quick upper body series plus mobility but the dogs and kids had other ideas 💡😆

Since everyone is up - it's coffee and enjoying the fog 🌫️, pack snacks, school drop off, and .atascadero meet up!

Don't worry, - I'll be back to finish later today!

Are bathroom selfies still a thing ⁉️ And if so, I need practice 👀 with my eyes 😂

What a fun day in Paso Robles shopping and having lunch and mocktails with my mom who's in town from South Carolina! Before we did school dropoffs, I got in some client emails and a workout. Sticking to my 3-4x a week for weight training 💪🏻 Saw my orthopedic surgeon yesterday and will continue to modify for pain and limited range of motion while still doing PT. He thinks getting back to spin, running, and hiking elevation are possibly out of the question for the long haul 😭

But, I am excited to continue to find my new groove 🙏🏻

3 years ago 🥰 My reverse baby shower!

I volunteered at a local transitional house and worked with amazing women seeking a second chance on life with sobriety + post incarceration 1-2x a month with health coaching, mindset work, and mindful walks. They shared their stories and their dreams as they felt comfortable ❤️

All of the women had missed key moments in their lives or friends lives, like baby showers. So I created a reverse one!

I bought them small gifts (fancy toiletries, journals, and pens), we played games, did some crafts, and had a fancy juice bar with snacks.

Places like this are so amazing to help formerly incarcerated women and the housing crisis.

I'm excited to plug in more here locally to volunteer opportunities plus I'll be volunteering at both kids schools 🎒

Somewhere in the last year, I got away from how I love to fuel myself. I am not running or teaching spin due to my knee injury (which happened a year ago this week) and I'm still in PT. I got away from true daily movement and was too spotty with my workouts. Good thing at least, I am super consistent with my PT, I just want to sit on the floor with the kids to play and not have intense knee pain 💥

Well, I'm here to say. You can start adding your healthy habits on any day. You don't have to wait for a Monday. Or until X or Y happens.

While my biomarkers (BP, A1C, cholesterol etc) are all beautiful, I don't feel 100%.

So here's me adding back in:

💩More fiber.
💦More water.
💤Better sleep (hello kids who crawl into our bed)
💪🏼More mobility, strength and walks

Even coaches need to hit the refresh button especially after injuries and big life changes.

What would you add in?!

My least favorite thing to do is strength train.
But it's my top goal.
Another goal is to get both dogs to pose 😂

I love home workouts and can adapt for my knee. I aim for 3x a week and typically do my PT as my "warmup".

I know, I got cocky the other day when I said my littlest was sleeping through the night and that night following, he was up till almost midnight and would not go to bed and then woke up where to go at 5:00 a.m 💤😴😫 So I say this while I toss some salt over my shoulder for good luck, knowing that I am getting more sleep and I have more energy plus I'm back to nourishing so I feel good and I'm ready to get after it 💪🏻

I have some big goals that I want to accomplish and I am ready to put in the work!

Today's Work:
20 min strength ✅
30 min walk (will do later)
Hit 10k+ steps (in progress)
Ice and stretch knee (tonight while watching a movie)

One of the reasons I love being a board certified coach is that I love being able to connect and empathize with those who have had a similar journey to me. Even though the focus is on the client, their experiences, and their goals - they came to me because of my training AND lived experiences ❤️

Working in the Type 2 diabetes prevention and behavior change as well as with moms who had preeclampsia or gestational diabetes.... I hear every week how hard it is to implement change especially as the season of life changes or kids needs dictate schedules, for example.

I get it. And I am living it.

We are finally turning a corner on my littlest's sleep. I'm now getting 6-8hrs uninterrupted a night vs the 2-4 I was getting the last two years. I'm also still navigating my bilateral knee injury with almost a year of PT and surgery under my belt. I'm not doing the long workouts I was, running, teaching spin, or big elevation changes due to pain. I still have to modify a lot in yoga due to lateral pain.

I'm ready to lean into the next season of life now that I'm able to get more sleep and am welcoming perimenopause with open arms and renewed focus ⚡ (putting all that positive energy out there 😂). Even without those hard workouts I'm used to, I'm ready to support my goals.

I'm ready for my energy journey by continuing to strength train, walks, and nourishing well. I can already tell that my inflammation from lack of sleep is reducing 👐🏻

What journey are you on?!

Got locked 🔒 out of my IG account but perfect timing. We enjoyed two weeks in Vermont, Quebec 🇨🇦, and Northern New York. Summer in ski areas is my favorite ☀️

I can't believe summer is almost over 😞 But I'm excited to have more time to lean into my 365 Workbook for Moms + a fun surprise for locals after the new year!

Next weekend, I'm hosting the .sloconorth moms at our home for a beautiful morning of yoga with
and a fun little surprise after 🌸🌼 Love pouring into others and having that community!
