LUMINOUS means…
✨full of light✨
✨bright & shining✨
LUMINOUS is an adjective used to describe people, places or things that beam, brilliantly: like the sun’s rising glow reflected in the dew on a cool and cloudy morning, or the smile of a dear friend, & the feeling that your heart might get when beholding both.
LUMINOSITY is the THING that resonates as the quality of the luminous, the actual scintillations of sparklings, the conceptual cascade of coalescing colors, disintegrating deeply into each and the other & onward into the darkness of a night.
Where there is no light, what still shines? What pursues the darkness and illuminates? What keeps going on and on and on and on? Those particles and waves, dear one: the particles and waves. It’s light. And, it’s luminous.
In that special fury of excitement that I sometimes get when thematics and storylines are EAGER to flow through me ( ) I dedicated my yesterday to “variations on the theme of light” and this is part of what I found.
🕋 CHIAROSCURO CANDELA🕋
In the luminous limitless
Limited light lays level.
Lilting, levitating, lifted up…
In the eye of the beholder
Lies luminosity’s reprise.
§
Another word for “reprise” is reiteration, repetition, renewal, replication. The word “reprise” is most often used in music to indicate a section of repetition.
I used that word intentionally to invoke the musicality in variations on ANY theme: it’s up to the player to learn the notes and chords and scales and keys. Breathtaking harmonics played can be perceived as cacophony depending on how the instrument is tuned, and who is listening.
And what of MY instruments to behold the luminous? It’s more than meets the eye, which is what the poem suggests.
What meets the eye, according to physics, can be measured by perception in Photometrics’ Luminous Intensity, measured as a “candela.”
Even though different wavelengths are perceived by the human eye with differing intensities and reductions, and each colorform takes on a specific tone of its own unique energetic signature.
Behold: perception, dear one - and make it luminous. Shine in what lights you up, even if it doesn’t hold a candle to standard measure.
