Gypsy Rising was born from a desire to empower and uplift our community one yoga class at a time. The vision is to harness the power of the practice to make a meaningful impact in Pekin and beyond. Through a variety of meaningful practices, we hope to help people connect with themselves and awaken to their full possibility. A Gypsy Soul is a person who is full of energy and wants to live life in t

heir own terms. They harness the spirit and rise from within. At Gypsy Rising, we want you to awaken to your own power and possibility. Amanda began practicing yoga in 2011 while living in Marietta, GA and received her 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training in 2019 at OM on the River in Peoria, IL. In addition, she has over 400+Hours of Teaching Experience, 4+Hours of CEU credit for Yoga for Seniors and 4.5 Hours of IAYT (Yoga Therapy Credits) and is just getting started. She is a mother, a wife, a yogi and a forever gypsy.

"Hot girls don’t crash out… they regulate.” 😌

Okay okay… we know the trend is funny. But all jokes aside, this month we want to talk about something that matters:

The connection between movement and mental health.

Every Wednesday during Mental Health Awareness Month, we’ll be sharing a little more about why what we do here goes so much deeper than physical appearance.

Because yoga isn’t just stretching.
Pilates isn’t just abs.
Barre isn’t just toning.

Movement can become a form of self-regulation.

Learning to notice your breath.
Learning to slow down the mental chatter.
Learning to check in with your body instead of disconnecting from it.
Learning how stress physically lives inside of you.

And honestly, if someone asked me what yoga has done for me personally, the first things I would tell them would have NOTHING to do with muscle tone, definition, flexibility, or physical appearance. That’s all just icing on top of the sundae.

The real work — and the real benefits — happen underneath all of that.

Yoga helped me become more aware.
More grounded.
More connected to myself.
More resilient in hard seasons of life.

Yes, we want you to feel strong.
Yes, we want you to feel good in your body.

But we’re focused on the whole person here — not just what you look like.

And honestly?
That’s what we think is really hot. 💛

Tonight was something special. I hosted the 2013/2014 Pekin Pride Girls Soccer Team (my daughter’s team 🥰)

These girls thought they were coming for a relaxing yoga class…
they were wrong 😊

We built strength where female athletes (soccer
players) need it most—hips, knees, ankles, core.
This session was inspired by the FIFA 11+ injury prevention program—designed for soccer players—and layered with my own approach to strength, stability, and mindset for female athletes.

There was shaking, balance work, and learning how to lean on each other and hold each other up.

But the most important work? Mindset.

Reset. Refocus. Go.

Letting go of what doesn’t serve you… and choosing better.

Because confidence isn’t just built in reps—
it’s built in how we speak to ourselves and each other.

This is why I opened this space.

Not just for stronger bodies—
but stronger, more confident humans.
