We’re so proud of Makayla, who recently graduated from our home care services. Born with short gut syndrome, Mikayla once relied on IV nutrition through a central line and tube feeds to get the nourishment her body needed.
At home, BAYADA nurses closely monitored her care. They safely managed her central line and tube feeds while partnering with her family and medical team every step of the way.
With consistent, skilled support, Makayla made remarkable progress. Her central line was removed. She began eating enough by mouth to discontinue both daytime and overnight tube feeds. Today, she takes all medications orally and is thriving, with her care team expecting G-tube removal in the future.
Stories like Makayla’s show the power of skilled nursing home care. It helps children avoid repeated hospital stays and continue growing where they belong, at home.
We’re grateful for her BAYADA nurses, including Alice, Carmen, and Jessica, pictured here. Makayla loved her nurses and already misses them, a testament to the meaningful bonds that form through home care.
