🎉Yes...I finally got the first dose of my Moderna COVID19 vaccination (Yay for a sprinkle of black girl magic 💁🏾‍♀️ in my dose!)⁣

Was I hesitant when it first was reported to be available? Yes, I absolutely was. Our community has a horrific history with medicine and research. This effects even as a physician. ⁣
⁣
👉🏾Check out the reasons why I decided to move forward with early immunization as a physician on the frontlines.👈🏾⁣
⁣
💉The science is solid and reassuring. This mRNA technology has been studied for decades. The only thing new is the novel virus.⁣
⁣
💉Clinical trials have been VERY reassuring. And thankfully, this process and development of this vaccination has been completed in an ETHICAL fashion (unlike the Tuskegee trial where life saving medicine was withheld from Black individuals).⁣
⁣
💉The risks of theoretical delayed side effects (extremely unlikely given the data) are MUCH less than the real risk of contracting COVID19.⁣
⁣
💉I have an adorable 18 month old son and I need to be here to watch him grow up. And yes...he will continue to be breastfed. ⁣
⁣
💉Lastly, my patients often want to tell me about their covid19 symptoms in person (Don't do this y'all!)⁣
