Did you know that older adults and people with chronic health conditions are more sensitive to extremes in heat and humidity? As we age, the body loses the ability to regulate temperature. Chronic conditions and certain prescription medications affect how heat is tolerated. Additionally, flare-ups of breathing-related illness are more likely to occur in extreme temperatures.

Staying hydrated, wearing light-weight clothing, limiting strenuous activity, and staying out of the heat can help combat heat-related illness.

With the high heat and humidity that west Michigan is experiencing, make sure to check in on your loved ones!

Requirements:
- Graduate of nursing school and currently holding a RN or LPN license.
- 1 year of previous nursing experience, preferred
- Previous home health care experience, preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively and work as a part of an interdisciplinary team
- Strong ability to use critical thinking and deduction when performing job tasks and evaluating patient needs
- Ability to consistently connect with patients one-on-one
- Responsible, compassionate, and caring demeanor

Medicare guidelines state that the following make an individual eligible for home care services:
- Requires special transport to leave their home
- Use of an assistive device (walker, wheelchair, or cane)
- Needs help from someone to leave their home
- Leaves their home for short durations and infrequently
- Medical contraindications to leaving the home
- It is unsafe for them to leave the home
