Today's topic is do your homework!! We are all different, & no matter what industry you look at, there are people who will infiltrate any industry with scams, "cure-all" style products, & incorrect or misleading marketing and educational information. If you are someone who is truly attempting a better life for yourself, you must accept that it is largely an experimental process, & any form of self-improvement could come with both positive AND negative side effects. Whether you're trying a new medicine or supplement your doctor recommended, or you think Yoga or Pilates might be worth a shot, keep in mind that the benefits & great reviews from happy people are going to reported & maybe overemphasized, while any risks or dangers will be largely minimized or made to seem insignificant.
PLEASE ALWAYS REMEMBER THAT WHEN IT COMES TO YOUR BODY & WELL-BEING, YOU DON'T HAVE TO DO WHAT EVERYONE ELSE DOES! Here are a few things that may help:
1. Sometimes we all get swept away in a product, ad, or service that seems to have zero downside... But there's nothing that doesn't have some risk! Follow your gut, & ask yourself if this seems like it will work in your life specifically, without focusing on what other people are saying about the product or service, etc. My personal example: Many people swear by Yoga, & I cannot get into it! It's just not my style of exercise.
2. Going along with following your gut, do research before you try anything. I don't mean look at product reviews or what other people say. I mean look at what is in the product, supplement or medicine you want to try. Never be afraid to tell your doctor, "This might not be the right thing for me. Is there an alternative medicine/supplement/practice I could try instead?" Example: If you are someone who has an increased risk of heart problems because of family or personal health history, you probably don't want to take anything that would come with a side effect of "Possible heart attack or heart failure". Even if the risk is "minimal", it's still a hefty consideration because if your heart goes, you go.
3. Professional services β Yes, lots of corruption happens in the health & wellness industry, from coaches, counselors & even doctors with NO qualifications to supplement makers that are literally feeding you processed garbage which your body flushes right out anyway. DON'T BE AFRAID TO ASK QUESTIONS! Coaches, counselors, doctors, fitness trainers, & any other professional service provider should be not only able but absolutely willing to provide you with all their credentials, whether it's education or experience qualifications, client & support references, or any degrees & certifications they've achieved or boast.
Any industry is going to have scammers, & unfortunately those who claim they work in health & wellness won't always have your best interests at heart! That's why doing your own research & making your decisions based on what YOU REALLY think is so important!
I hope everyone is having a great week!
