Today we celebrate the Jade Emperor; an incredibly important figure in East Asian culture. He is considered the Emperor of Heaven who vanquished a great evil from earth thousands of years ago. There are many famous stories featuring him including "The Cowherd and the Weaver Girl" and "The four dragons"⁠

Taoist temples across the world today will perform rituals including lighting of incense, prayers and offerings, while families will often set an altar table and perform rituals of their own to celebrate him.⁠
