Dear Mama, slow down a moment. The dishes can wait, the laundry can rest, and that long to‑do list? Let it pause. Because right now, these tiny hands in yours, the unplanned kitchen dance, the soft giggle during story time—these are the rhythms that matter.
A reminder we all need from time to time. As birth workers, we spend so much time pouring into others. It’s important to have this reminder on repeat. Navigating motherhood, birth work, and everyday life is not easy!
Let’s talk back up doulas.
As a doula, my goal is to surround you with unwavering care—even when life surprises us.
Birth doesn’t run on a schedule. Illness, a second client going into labor at the same time, or even sudden emergencies can come up without warning. That’s exactly why having a trusted backup doula isn’t just helpful—it’s essential.
Yesterday, I had the honor of stepping in as a backup doula for an incredible mama. We traveled through a difficult, beautiful birth that culminated in a cesarean—but what truly stood out was the collaboration, support, and grace.
Working alongside a fellow doula, there was no pressure, no resentment, no conflict—just two women walking side‑by‑side, uplifted by mutual trust and purpose. That shared rhythm, that seamless hand‑off, reminded me exactly why backup doulas matter: they keep the care consistent, the energy grounded, and the mama fully seen—even when plans shift.
Hug your fellow doula. And remind them that it’s okay to slow down.
