Imagine 10 people go to the grocery store and buy the exact same 5 items, but each person pays a different amount. The grocery store does not list prices of any of the items. The price is determined at the register based on your chosen payment method (but no one is aware of this fact).
People can pay in various ways: credit card, cash, check, or Venmo and the payment method determines the price. It is 10x higher with card than cash, it is 2x higher with check than Venmo which is 2x higher than cash.... you get the jist.
This would never fly in our economy anywhere....and yet this exactly the way we purchase our healthcare everyday. Blindly. Do you think the second largest purchaser of health care (employers) is going to continue to buy blindly when they have another option?
