A message from Debora:

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and I am happy to be celebrating my 2nd year in private practice. I want to share with you my passion for providing therapy. When it really comes down to it, I am driven to this work with the intention of creating a safe space for people in all walks of life. Through the therapeutic process, it is my hope that people can feel comfortable in being vulnerable with themselves, to delve into their darkest thoughts or work through their fears without judgement, while receiving constant reassurance that they are not alone.

As we transition to the warmer months of summer, I am inspired to share how you can utilize the metaphor of water to describe feelings that may otherwise be hard to put a label on. I encourage you to sit back and visualize a body of water that best describes how you feel. Maybe its in the form of a river or an ocean, or a backyard pool. Maybe it’s calm with gentle ripples, or maybe it’s rough with strong waves. Using mindfulness explore how you relate to your feelings in this moment, approaching your feelings with curiosity instead of harsh judgement or negative self talk. Use this visualization as a way to check in with your emotional state, and perhaps through time you will gain the power to transform turbulence into tranquility.
